Ever since Marvel's summer blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy blew up last year, fans have been speculating about who Peter "Star-Lord" Quill's father is. Well, me too. But, that will come later. Let's first talk about who his mother really is and what her connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe really is.

His Mother

In Guardians, Meredith Quill was dying of cancer while her son listened to '70's music and was getting beat up by bullies.

Now, before you say anything, I know that Hollywood is a small place and that actors are used in movies all the time without really being connected. But, fan theories are based on tenuous connections like this. And the MCU catchphrase is #itsallconnected...

That being said, the same actress who played Meredith, Laura Haddock, also played an autograph seeker in Captain America: The First Avenger, during WWII (1939-1945). Let us suppose this is, in fact, Great-Grandma Quill. Her son, Peter's grandfather, would have born around the same time. Grandpa Quill has Meredith. Her son Peter Quill gets abducted in 1988. Their approximate ages and time periods involved somewhat match up.

Think about that family legend: Your great-grandmother met Captain America!!!

OMG Captain America you're the best
OMG Captain America you're the best

Perhaps this chance meeting with the great Captain America was ingrained in the Quill DNA, for them to do good...

His Father

We don't know who Peter Quill's father is! According to his mother, he's a beautiful, glowing angel but Yondu says he's a jackass. Either way, let's go to an impartial source--Nova Corps. They said Quill's father isn't anything they ever saw before! A new alien!

Star-Lord, man?

But I'm not going to speculate on who his father really is. My two cents' worth is more of a fan wish. To continue with the Star Wars/ Guardians theme, when we meet him for the first time, I really want him to say "Star-Lord, I am your father!"

He should be played by none other than...Kevin Bacon!
