Today, June 11, marks the 47th birthday of the prolific Game of Thrones actor, who has racked up a number of great roles over the years. His role as Tyrion Lannister has gained him the reputation as arguably the most popular Game of Thrones character in the series. He's a busy man in Hollywood, having just starring in both The Boss and the Angry Birds movie.
So for his birthday, I thought it would be cool to look at his next five films. Enjoy!
1. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
First up is a crime drama, also starring Sam Rockwell (Moon), Woody Harrelson (Zombieland) and Abbie Cornish (Limitless). The story follows a mother who relentlessly searches for her daughter's murderer. To me, this sounds like a gripping thriller that should offer spine-tingling suspense. Expect this one in 2017 as it's still in production.
2. O' Lucky Day
In complete contrast to the last film comes O' Lucky Day, a comedy directed by Rock of Ages helmer Adam Shankman. According to IMDb, this movie is about a man's "attempt to pass himself off as a real leprechaun." We all know that Dinklage is as funny as he is serious, so this should be hilarious. Also expect this one in 2017, but it could be postponed because thus far Dinklage is the only confirmed cast member.
Dinklage clearly wants to branch out into all genres, because this flick is a mystery/sci-fi. This movie is the one I'm most excited about; it's an idea I've always pondered. The IMDb synopsis reads: The widow of a wise professor stumbles upon one of his inventions that's able to record and play a person's memory." How cool does that plot sound? It also stars Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) and Julia Ormond (Mad Men). This film is still in post-production, so it's not entirely clear when it will be out, but I'll be sure to keep an eye out.
4. The Thicket
For this movie, Dinklage is going back to the crime genre with a film that is yet to find a director. The plot sounds as if Dinklage won't be a main character, but we do know that he'll be playing a bounty hunter named Shorty. I think this is going to be a crazy movie and the sooner it finds a director, the better.
5. The Jester
According to IMDb, this next thriller is about "a peasant [who] poses as a court jester for a twisted king in order to mount a campaign of revenge against the knights who viciously murdered his uncle." It's unclear whether Dinklage will be playing the peasant or the king, but either way, you know he's going to be great. It's not been announced when this film will release, but hopefully it won't go into production limbo because I'd love to see this one on the big screen.
So there you have it! Let me know which Peter Dinklage role is your favorite and which one of his next roles you're most looking forward to.
