WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS!
If you haven't seen Game of Thrones 608 yet, please go watch it before you read on.
Game of Thrones did it again with another great episode. Things have been going slow in the past few episodes, but were exceptionally great. The only difference with this episode, is that they're stepping it up leading to the epic Season 6 finale. There were lots of great things happened so without further ado, let's take a look at some of the most epic scenes of the episode:
1. The Hound Has Come For Blood!
We all knew The Hound was out for Brotherhood blood, but that scene was epic! I was beginning to wonder when we would see him back in action, and I think I can speak for everybody when I say: "That was not a disappointment". Seeing some ax-slinging action was very entertaining. Some of the best fight scenes in the entire Game of Thrones series, involves The Hound. It's going to be interesting seeing where he goes from here.
2. The Attack On Meereen
Everybody loves it when Tyrion is up to his usual drunken shenanigans. Those types of scenes are important because of how intense Game of Thrones can get. It gives us a chance to slow down and share a few laughs, as we did with this scene. We now know that Missandei and Grey Worm are not very good comedians, although it was entertaining. The laughing stops when we find out that an entire fleet of the masters ships are there to take back their property. Yikes!
3. No More Trial By Combat?
This scene was very surprising. No doubt we were all loving the trial by combat scenes - seeing as that we only had three - I'm sure we'll see more to it. Now that Cersei could possibly be without Franken-Mountain, it's going to be difficult for her to slither away like normal.
In the beginning of his reign, King Tommen was a very exceptional king. Now he's just a manipulated little brat. The High Sparrow has gotten to his head therefore I hope Margery has something up her sleeve or things aren't going to turn out well for Cersei and the king. He's not a terrible king, but he doesn't understand politics and how things go. His grandfather once told him in a previous season that wisdom makes a great king.
4. Dany Has Returned!!!
Daenerys is one of my top favorite characters of the show. I've always loved her story and Emilia Clarke is an amazing, beautiful actress that just brings that character to life. It was good to see her back for a brief time after her absence, but she may have returned just in time. Maybe Drogon is going to destroy the ships? It looks like maybe he was flying away, but we're just going to have to wait and see. If so, will Drogon get killed during the battle? Could Theon and Yara save the day?
5. A Girl Is Arya Stark
This was my favorite sequence of the episode. Dany is one of my favorite characters, but Arya is my all time favorite. This sequence was one of the best in the entire series. After Arya cuts the candle I really thought that she would say, "Not today". As epic as that would have been, it's too bad we didn't get that. But the Waif is finally dead and it was good to see her face in the chamber. I had chills up my spine after Arya stated: "A girl is Arya Stark from Winterfell, and I am going home".
I'm starting to believe maybe she acted more hurt than she really was. If you compare her countenance and the way she walks from when she was running form the Waif, and after she leaves Jaqen, it's different. But that was either great writing, or poor attention to detail. I'm leaning more towards good writing because that was too big for Game of Thrones to just let it slide.
This episode ended with us having lots of questions and I am very excited to see what's going to happen. It definitely sets up the next two episodes that are going to probably be the best of the series. Game of Thrones has had this sort of "ninth episode in the series" deal where epic things happen and after seeing the promo for next week, I can see why it's going to be amazing.
