It seems as though Beverly Hills Cop 4 is back on! Paramount have hired Belgian directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to direct the next installment of the franchise which will see Eddie Murphy reprise his role as Axel Foley.

Deadline broke the news of the directors who are best known for their TIFF drama, Black. The film has yet to reach U.S theaters but it did play as SXSW and received positive reviews.

Both Eddie Murphy and producer Jerry Bruckheimer both apparently loved Black and were pleased to find out that the directors are fans of the Beverly Hills Cop series. Paramount hopes that the young directors will inject some "youthful energy" into the sequel.

Paramount have been desperate to return to the franchise for quite some time. In 2014 a release date for Spring 2016 but then removed the date when the project saw little to no progress.

The film has a script written by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec. who both previously wrote the scripts for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

No new release date for Beverly Hills Cop 4 has been announced.
