I recently wrote a piece about why Matt Cohen would be the perfect actor to play Superman in the CW series Supergirl. Last night his fans resoundly let the world know that they agreed.
Twitter Trend Party
A group of hardcore Matt Cohen fans, who love his work on Supernatural and General Hospital, and who show up by the thousands for his karaoke parties every month at Supernatural conventions around the world, came together for a 'Twitter Trend Party'.
By the thousands, fans tweeted and retweeted the hashtag, often with Supergirl Casting Director David Rapaport tagged. It worked. The hashtag was soon trending, and, on a night when #hiddleswift tried to break the internet, they reached as high as #2 on Twitter. (For those not Twitter savvy #hiddleswift was the tag for a picture that was posted of new celebrity couple Tom Hiddleston, best known as Loki in The Avengers, and Taylor Swift kissing)
And Celebrities Joined The Party
A few of Matt Cohen's co-stars on Supernatural even joined the party. Tweets included actors Osric Chau, Misha Collins, Gil McKinney, and Rob Benedict.
And the end of it all, even Matt Cohen joined in to thank his fans
Will The Fans Be Heard?
When all is said and done, who know's who will be cast as the Man of Steel. @Rapaportcasting hasn't tweeted about the trend, and he likely will not, but he surely took note of the thousands of notifications he received. One thing that was apparent, Matt Cohen's fans had a great time showing their love for, not just a favorite actor, but a favorite person of theirs.
