Finding a movie or a TV show to watch on Netflix can sometimes take ages, lucky enough for me I found Sherlock. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, here are five reasons why you too should be watching the British TV show.

5. A Modern Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock takes the widely known story of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson and gives it a spin by setting the story in 21st century London, England. You’ll be getting every little detail from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective consultant, from Mrs.Hudson to 221b Baker Street, to the Woman, to his brother Mycroft. All in a modern take.

4. Fun And Entertaining

Sherlock does an outstanding job in the way it brings to life the Sherlock Holmes character. You won’t be watching the famous detective just solving a crime or a mystery, but also how and why he decided to solve it, truly brilliant. The way it approaches this is different than any other show, this is not just simply a crime-detective show. Each episode is like a roller coaster ride, with the thrill not ending even after the episode is over— you want to keep watching more.

3. Amazing Characterizations

You instantly feel and get a sense of what the characters are feeling almost instantly. Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, and the rest of the cast do a phenomenal job in giving life to their roles. The Holmes-Watson dynamic on the show is so fantastic that it’s as if the two characters are actually you and your best friend solving mysteries. At the same time, the villains are also superb. They just don’t get locked up or killed off instantly like in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. No, they keep coming back — with such illustrious resurgences as sophisticated as the mysteries that Sherlock solves!

2. Benedict Cumberbatch & Martin Freeman

They share a chemistry on screen as if they were meant by destiny to play their parts. Definitely one of the best actors of our times, Cumberbatch delivers the best interpretation of Sherlock Holmes ever. While the show may be called Sherlock, it is widely centered around both Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, so you’ll also be seeing a lot of Martin Freeman. Their acting is simply phenomenal.

In case you didn't know:

You will see Benedict Cumberbatch playing Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe this November. You also saw Martin Freeman play Everett Ross in this year’s Captain America: Civil War.

1. You Are Part Of The Mystery

Even though Sherlock Holmes and John Watson are the ones solving the mysteries on screen, in a way you the viewer are part of the crime-solving team too. When you watch an episode, don’t be surprised if you are forming your own theories throughout the viewing.

Each episode is like a movie, and each episode you will love, I guarantee it. Sherlock is now entering its fourth season, but you can watch season one, two and three, as well as behind-the-scenes footage on Netflix.
