WARNING: This article contains catastrophic spoilers from the Season 6 finale of Game Of Thrones. Read on at your own peril. Shame!
The season finale of Game Of Thrones has left the entire fandom speechless. With so many plot twists and so many deaths, it's no wonder that so many people lose track of what's going on the show. Not to worry, here's a quick roundup of the major character deaths from Season 6, Episode 10 of Game Of Thrones.
Margaery and Loras
In arguably the most shocking moment in Game Of Thrones' history, Margaery and Loras were victims of Cersei's revenge plot. The two Tyrells attempted to flee the Sept of Baelor once Margaery had figured out Cersei's plan. Unfortunately for them, the High Sparrow's men wouldn't let them escape and as a result the entire building exploded before our very eyes.
Queen Margaery was one of my favorite characters and it's such a shame that she had to get caught in the crossfire. Loras has had it real tough this season and things didn't get any better for him either; after being subjected to mutilation at the hands of the Sparrows, moments later he was blown up. It's a sad day for House Tyrell.
The High Sparrow
In the exact same scene, the High Sparrow was blown to kingdom come when the wildfire erupted under the Sept of Baelor. His death was not only a little pleasing to watch, but it solidified the culmination of the Faith storyline. Looks like the Mother didn't have mercy on the High Sparrow!
Tommen is unable to cope with the grief. Unfortunately we never get to see the King confront his mother over her actions — instead, Tommen removes his crown and jumps out of a window, plummeting to his death. It was the easy way out instead of dealing with his mother. Unfortunately, Tommen's death has now left Cersei as ruler of the Seven Kingdoms.
In another rather satisfying death, Walder Frey was executed at the hands of Arya Stark, who exacted revenge for her entire family — almost all of whom Frey murdered during the Red Wedding.
Walder Frey has been a thorn in the Starks' side for far too long and in this episode he finally got what he deserved!
Lancel — the primary Faith militant — was also caught in Cersei's crossfire. After being lured down into the basement of the Sept of Baelor, Lancel was stabbed by one of Qyburn's little birds.
Lancel figured out Cersei's plan and attempted to dispose of the Wildfire, but he was too little too late. Lancel was the first casualty and was blown to smithereens in mere seconds.
Grand Maester Pycelle
Pycelle was also lured into a remote location where he was confronted by Qyburn. Qyburn told him that it was not a personal vendetta, but that the old needed to be expunged. Moments later, several of Qyburn's little birds began to stab Pycelle repeatedly until he fell and died. Cersei really wreaked havoc on King's Landing.
As you can see from the above list, the season finale of Game Of Thrones was a bloodbath — most of which is on Cersei's hands. Now that Cersei has control of the Seven Kingdoms, we can only imagine what terror lies ahead for Westeros in the remaining seasons!
