By now we all know the deal with Deadpool: A relatively unknown comic book character came out of nowhere to smash all records on the big screen, breaking the fourth wall and poking a little fun at other superheroes and studios on the way, all while proving that R-rated superhero movies could totally bring in the numbers.

Add to that a lead actor who basically merged with his character, and it didn't take too much time for Fox to officially confirm Deadpool 2. The sequel is expected to start filming in 2017, but we don't know much about the plot — apart from the fact that Deadpool himself announced the arrival of Cable in the post-credits scene of the first movie. There might even be clues for Deadpool 2 in the post-credits scene of X-Men: Apocalypse!

Still, there's quite a few comic book storylines that the Deadpool sequel could draw from, starting with the appearance of Vanessa as Copycat, the shapeshifting, blue-skinned mutant we were all hoping to see in the first movie. But until we get more details on what Deadpool 2 is actually going to be about, the comic books provide us with plenty of insane moments. While they might be too insane to make it into a movie adaptation, they will definitely give you a bit of that Merc with a Mouth vibe we've all been missing.

2. When Deadpool Flirted With Spider-Man

Although we're mostly aware of his loving relationship with Vanessa, Deadpool's known to be quite the flirter in the comics. One of his crushes is Spider-Man, and Deadpool's legendary fourth-wall breaking makes it even more entertaining.

3. When Deadpool Teased Wolverine

We've already seen two X-Men go crazy at the thought of having to listen to one more word by the Merc with a Mouth in the movie, but the comics are no exception. I'm not sure who of Spider-Man or Wolverine is losing their patience more when they end up with Deadpool, although at least it makes for some hilarious dialogue.

4. That Time Deadpool Fought Abraham Lincoln

Right, that happened. In Deadpool Vol. 3, the red-spandex specialist has a cage fight with Abraham Lincoln.

5. When Deadpool Gained A Voice Inside His Head

As if Deadpool wasn't crazy enough, an altercation with Daredevil and Thor merged him with Madcap — of all people. Madcap is a Marvel villain who shares healing abilities similar to Deadpool, although he's much darker. Another strike of Thor's lightning later separates the two again, but Madcap definitely leaves his mark on the Merc with a Mouth.

6. When Deadpool Wouldn't Get Tired Of Star Wars References

One of the great things about Deadpool's fourth-wall-breaking ability is that it doesn't only pertain to Marvel Comics. And while you might be familiar with that time he shot someone in the face for saying the Star Wars prequels were good, did you catch this reference in the corner of a panel?
