The Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters is one of the most famous cars in movie history, and now fans across the country will have a chance to ride in the beloved vehicle.
Leading up to the release of director Paul Feig's Ghostbusters, ride sharing app Lyft is offering customers in select cities a chance to go into "Ghost Mode" and ride in the world's premier ghost-hunting car.
If you're a Lyft user in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, Washington D.C. or Boston, you'll want to switch your app over to "Ghost Mode" to request a ride from the Ecto-1. But act fast, as Lyft's only offering rides on July 1 and July 2 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time. The promotion includes actual models of the vehicle used during production, as well as plenty of replica cars.
Thankfully, this will be more than just an average Lyft ride. Customers lucky enough to hop in the Ecto-1 will be entered to win two tickets to the Ghostbusters world premiere in Los Angeles on July 9. And they'll also walk away with some free goodies, like Hi-C Ecto Cooler and Twinkies stuffed with ectoplasmic key lime slime.
Lyft's Ecto-1 offering may be an obvious piece of marketing for Ghostbusters, but it's still a cool opportunity fans will definitely want to try for themselves. Considering this is a very special car, we wouldn't be shocked to hear that it has some extra functions fans can try during their trips. Here's to hoping you get picked up by an actual Ghostbuster for your ride.
Ghostbusters hits theaters on July 15. Will you try to catch a ride in the Ecto-1 this weekend? Let us know in the comments below.
