So it’s that time of the year again, all our favorite shows are between series and we’re eagerly awaiting their return. So with Game of Thrones coming to a unexpectedly happy end and The Walking Dead not due back until October, along with our DC favourites, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries (just to mention a few), we feel a little bit in limbo.

So what do we watch to keep us going through the summer? Here’s a breakdown for you of some of the new and existing shows to feed your TV appetite.

What’s On Now?

NEW: Preacher – we’re on Episode Six and things are really starting to get interesting in this darkly humorous, very alternative, supernatural series. AMC are on to a winner here with a great cast and even better concept.

S02: Scream – Netflix never disappoints with its Original Series, this is no exception. After a fab first series, I wasn’t sure what else they could do (even though it gave you a clue that more was to come). But as ever, the show continues to shock, scare and question everybody! As a fan of the original films I was a little skeptical but the series brings them back to life with modern day twists.

NEW: Animal Kingdom – when I started watching this (currently on Episode Five) I thought of it as a knock off ‘Sons of Anarchy’ but without the bikes. But I have to say it’s growing on me, you have more than one central character whose tendencies are all being revealed.

S07: Pretty Little Liars – any fan of this show knows exactly what to expect from the new series (we’re on Episode Three at the moment). Which is more of the ‘A’ guessing game. Sigh.

S02: Wayward Pines – we weren’t sure whether or not to expect a second season, but here it is and in a world 2000 years from now, ruled by human aberrations, the town is still fighting amongst themselves. A slow start to the season but worth the perseverance as it really starts to kick in around Episode Three.

NEW: Queen of the South – another show I wasn’t hooked after the first episode but I thought there was potential and after the second episode the show has begun to show us what it’s made off. The female protagonist is forced on the run after her drug-dealing boyfriend is unexpectedly murdered, she can’t trust anybody and now has to try and make it on her own.

Starting Again Soon:

S06: Suits – last season we saw Mike, who after five seasons has now been caught out about pretending to be a lawyer, taking one for the Pearson Specter Litt team and admitting his guilt and ultimately, heading off to prison. So will we see a time jump in the next series, a day by day account of his prison time or do they find a way to get him out? We’ll soon find out when this show returns mid-July.

S02: Mr Robot – a genius computer hacker is helping to take down a major corporation, but who is he really? After the conclusion of season one where we were all a little confused, we’re expecting big things from the new season of this show, which will be back on the same day as Suits.

S02: Fear The Walking Dead – the spin off series that focuses on the zombie apocalypse during the initial outbreak on the West Coast, is back to show us the last of Season Two. At the end of May we saw the group flee the burning camp they’d been staying at, with some parting ways after difficult choices were made. I look forward to seeing something a little different on its return, people keeping zombies alive, hello – Hershel’s farm in The Walking Dead?

So I’m sure you’ll be able to pick a series from there that will keep you occupied, and if not, don’t forget some of the best series out there are available to stream on Netflix. Such as, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Orphan Black, Daredevil, Better Call Saul or How to Get Away With Murder – just to mention a few.

Let me know what your favorite show is right now!
