Suicide Squad, the highly anticipated supervillain movie of the summer, is almost here and I couldn't be more excited for the newest addition to DC's Extended Universe. Although we do not know a lot about the plot (other than Intelligence officer Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) recruits some supervillains in order to "do some good") there are still a lot of appropriately weird and wonderful facts already out there. Here are 11 facts about Suicide Squad to impress your friends with on movie night!

Suicide Squad Teaser Trailer Tops Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Everyone is expecting Suicide Squad to be a great movie — so much so that it has even surpassed the likes of DC's biggest names! Only three weeks after the teaser for Suicide Squad was released, it gathered about 50 million views, in contrast to [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice](tag:711870) (2016) trailers that only got about 42 million! Suicide Squad's trailer is still in the lead, which might be a sign of just how popular this movie is going to be.

1. There's An Easter Egg For The Cast And Crew In Suicide Squad's Trailer!

The movie originally filmed in Toronto under the code name Bravo 14. As you can see above, prisoner uniforms in the movie feature the word "bravo" to pay homage to the cast and crew. It's likely that the number 14 refers to the year the filmmaking process began on the movie, but if anyone knows exactly what Bravo 14 stands for, please let us know in the comments section!

2. The Movie Will Celebrate A Special Joker Anniversary!

Suicide Squad is set for a release on the 50th anniversary of the Joker's live-action debut, portrayed by Cesar Romero in both Batman (1966) and Batman: The Movie (1966). The Joker has come a long way since then!

Suicide Squad is also the first non-Batman movie starring The Joker. Jared Leto's look as the newest Joker was released on April 24, 2015 — the 75th anniversary of the famous villain!

3. Ryan Gosling Almost Played The Joker (Yes, Really!)

Ryan Gosling was considered for the role of The Joker before Jared Leto! So was Sharlto Copley and Matt Smith. Apparently, Gosling turned down the role because he wasn't interested in a multi-picture deal. Gosling as The Joker would have come as a surprise to a lot of fans. Can you imagine him as the crazy villain?

4. Tom Hardy Wanted To Be Rick Flag (But Couldn't)

Tom Hardy was originally cast as Rick Flag before Joel Kinnaman was confirmed for the role! Hardy dropped out to do The Revenant (2015), which has become famous for its incredibly demanding and troublesome production, and he later said he regrets that he couldn't take the role. However, Hardy has a great relationship with Warner Bros., so keep your fingers crossed for him appearing within the DCEU sometime in the future.

5. Everyone From Zooey Deschanel To Amanda Seyfried Was Considered To Play Harley Quinn!

Finding the perfect Harley Quinn wasn't easy! Emma Roberts was offered the role of Harley Quinn, but turned it down to star in Scream Queens (2015). Among the actresses considered before Margot Robbie accepted the role were Imogen Poots, Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Emma Watson, Zooey Deschanel, Lily Collins, Sara Paxton, and Evan Rachel Wood.

6. But The Short List For Deadshot Was Even More Impressive!

If you thought the short list for Harley and Joker were impressive, check out who Warner Bros. considered to play Deadshot! The list includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Oscar Isaac, Daniel Craig, Matthew McConaughey, Johnny Depp, Keanu Reeves, Colin Farrell, Jason Statham, Matt Damon, Idris Elba, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Alexander Skarsgård, Ewan McGregor, Robert Pattinson, Michael Fassbender, Joel Kinnaman and Jon Hamm. What a lineup!

7. Every Costume Will Mean Something To Comic Book Fans!

Harley Quinn was initially created for Batman: The Animated Series and in 1999, she made her first appearance in the comic book Batman: Harley Quinn, where The Joker boasts a fancy tuxedo with a very distinct white flower.

We can take a sneak peak of the same style rocked by our very own Leto's Joker in the trailer while shooting a gold-plated ivory-handled AK-47 rifle. This stylistic choice, is for sure commemorating Harley Quinn's debut in DCEU. Did you know that the gold-plated rifle was also seen in David Ayer's previous film, End of Watch (2012)?

8. Killer Croc's Look Is Practical Effects!

No CGI went into creating Killer Croc's lizard look — it's all FX prosthesis! The prosthetic makeup that went onto Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje's head and shoulders, along with the painting of his body required about five hours of work. It also looks like Killer Croc is completing his look by wearing clothes made from crocodile skin (let's hope it's not made from real crocodiles).

9. Every Member Of The Squad Has A Vendetta Against Batman!

How would you feel toward the person who put you in jail? My guess is that you wouldn't really like them. Unfortunately for Bruce Wayne, this is the case with our favorite villains. In an interview, Zack Snyder noted that the Suicide Squad members all share a vendetta against Batman because he is the one who locked them up.

10. Suicide Squad May Show More Villains Than We First Thought

There are rumors that Ra's al Ghul, Hugo Strange and other Batman villains will appear in cameos in order to set up future DCEU movies. Not much is known about this, but Christopher Plummer is rumored to appear as Ra's al Ghul in a small cameo.

11. In True Harley Fashion, Margot Robbie Tattooed A Guy...And Made A Mistake!

You may have heard that both cast and crew members decided to get tattoos last summer, with the intentionally misspelled word "skwad" on their skin forever as a true bonding experience. Margot Robbie, who's playing the mischievous Harley Quinn, misspelled the word as "SWAD" when she tattooed the cast assistant, who had bravely volunteered to get the tattoo first.

Both Will Smith (Deadshot) and Cara Delevingne (Enchantress) also tried their skills as tattoo artists. Jared Leto, decided not to get inked.

And there we have it! Proof that the road to getting the Suicide Squad assembled has been just as weird and wonderful as the movie is likely to be! I hope you enjoyed the facts and want to share your own in the comments section.

Suicide Squad is scheduled to be released on August 5. In the mean time, check out the final trailer that was released on July 18!
