A tale of a mother willing to move mountains for her daughter, the supernatural tear-jerker Miracles From Heaven, is a perfect movie for anyone who believes in divine providence. Starring Jennifer Garner, Kylie Rogers and Martin Henderson, the film beamed down onto screens nationwide earlier this year to an overwhelming response from the targeted audience. Check out the trailer below:

Described as "an American Christian drama," the movie is an adaptation of Christy Beam's memoir of the same name. The "powerful, healing story of family, love, faith and hope" recounts her understanding of the powers that saved her incurably sick daughter against all odds.

While the brief synopsis of the movie talks of an "amazing story of a visit to heaven after surviving a headlong tumble into a tree," the remarkable recount within Beam's memoir is far more incredible.

The True Story Of Miracles From Heaven

Annabel Beam spent most of her childhood in and out of hospitals with a rare and incurable digestive disorder; she was unable to live a healthy and normal life — that is, until she turned 9 years old. Playing with her sisters on a warm sunny day, she fell from a hollowed-out tree and landed on her skull, a fall that would have caused irreparable brain damage and/or a broken spine. Instead, she landed with just a few scratches and one miracle occurrence: She went to heaven, met Jesus, and was cured of her lifelong illness.

Annabel recalled:

"There was no pain, and that's why I wanted to stay. And I sat on Jesus' lap and I asked Him if I could stay.
"He said, 'No, Annabel, I have plans for you on Earth that you cannot complete in heaven, but whenever the firefighters get you out, there will be nothing wrong with you."

As rescue teams battled to free her body from the tree, Annabel was in heaven defying science, being inexplicably cured of her chronic ailment, and returned to Earth entirely untouched — except for a visual of Jesus, whom she describes as having long brown hair, a beard and wearing a purple sash — a miraculous happening that would move her mother to write the best-selling account.

Jennifer Garner, who starred as Christy Beam in the movie, gave the following review to Vanity Fair:

  • "The book kept me up all night. It was so compelling and tangible. [Christy's] pain, the daughter's pain, what it did to the family... One of the great gifts of the movie was the perspective that came with it."

Pretty incredible, huh?
