One night this summer, in a city near you, food trucks will replace pickup trucks and bean bag chairs will replace barbecues, as Hulu takes the summertime spirit of the drive-in and gives it a modern update.

That's right, Hulu is set to break free from the confines of your living room television, getting communities together across the country for its Hulu Summer Road Trip. Over the next few months, the streaming service is traveling to various US cities and combining efforts with local businesses to bring you a free night of programming beneath the night sky. Each event will feature a film or TV series that has a special connection with its given city. So if you follow the tour to New York, you can catch up with Seinfeld, or if you travel to Boston, you'll be able to have a drink with Cheers and Good Will Hunting.

This past weekend Hulu launched its first outdoor screening of the Summer Road Trip in San Francisco. The event was held in the shadow of the world famous AT&T Park at The Yard at Mission Rock, right on the dock of the bay. The venue offered a variety of food trucks, popcorn stands, cotton candy vendors, a bean bag lounge, retro-style arcade, as well as a general spirit of goodwill.

Once the sun went down and the inflatable screen was raised, that's when the real fun began. Groups of friends, cozy couples and families scrambled to grab bean bag chairs and blankets, as they snuggled under the stars to watch Steve McQueen tear through the San Francisco streets in Bullitt.

The classic 1968 crime caper was directed by Peter Yates and stars screen legend McQueen as San Francisco detective Frank Bullitt, who is hell-bent on catching a pair of mob hitmen who interfered with a police investigation. The movie is iconic for its striking cinematography highlighting the unique beauty of the City by the Bay, one epic car chase, and for the undeniable star power of McQueen.

Hulu Summer Road Trip is just getting into gear as it lands next in New York at the end of July. So make sure to mark it on your calendar and enjoy a night of free programming and fun with your friends and family!
