During an interview with Polygon, director Taika Waititi teases that Thor: Ragnarok will be the most different and biggest Marvel film to date. Thor 3, similar to it's predecessors Thor and Thor: The Dark World, will continue to explore the cosmic side of the MCU, however the tone of the piece will vary slightly moving away from the dark nature of The Dark World and venturing into a "a buddy-style comedy featuring Thor and Hulk". Meaning less of this:
Waititi explained how he felt that the characters needed more chemistry on set in order to create the buddy elements needed to simulate similar relationships to the ones held in Captain America: Civil War:
"There needs to be a chemistry between characters on screen, and that comes from having chemistry on set. We're making movies. We should be having a lot of fun."
Waititi also told Polygon how he can't say too much about the plot of Thor 3 due to its ever-changing attitude:
"The plot has changed and the script has changed. There are buddy elements to it between Thor and the Hulk, but who knows what the final movie will look like."
What We Know About Thor: Ragnarok
An article on Cheatsheet states a few hints at what Thor: Ragnarok will be about. They state that the film will signify the end of Norse mythology, "brought on by the death of numerous gods within the pantheon." We also know that it will feature the return of the Hulk. Both Thor and Hulk were absent in the recent Marvel film, Captain America: Civil War, and both characters will be making a comeback in the third Thor film. Mark Ruffalo recently posted a video of himself on set:
Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston will continue to play the roles of brothers Thor and Loki, and of course we have Mark Ruffalo as Hulk. But here are the others involved, according to IMDb:
- Jeff Goldblum: Grandmaster
- Idris Elba: Heimdall
- Karl Urban: Skurge
- Cate Blanchett: Hela
- Anthony Hopkins: Odin
- Tessa Thompson: Valkyrie
Thor: Ragnarok will be released November 3, 2017 and I must say I am super excited!
