Star Wars Celebration is a truly magnificent spectacle that must be seen to be believed. Everywhere you look are fans of all ages from all over the world, mingling and laughing together like they've been friends for years. Some adorn themselves with intricate cosplay outfits whereas others, like myself, go for a less "out there" vibe with a Star Wars T-shirt and socks.

But, despite the countless exhibitions and fan meetings, the highlights of the convention had to be the panels held throughout the day, showcasing the best of what Star Wars has to offer over the coming years.

And on the first day, Celebration gave the world a plethora of fantastic panels and special guests. And boy, was it beautiful.

An Hour With Mark Hamill

I think we can all agree that Mark Hamill is one of the funniest, sweetest guys in the whole damn galaxy. Never one to shy away from spending time with his fans, the legend himself took to the stage for a full hour to talk about his time on set and answer some of the burning questions of fans in the audience.

During the panel, Mark touched on what it was like living under such heavy security and secrecy during The Force Awakens and joked about having to get into shape to turn around and take off his hood:

“It’s all about preparing you. ‘Oh, by the way, all that workout where you lost all the weight? You’re going to have to turn — and remove your hood.' I’m like, ugh, I need to lie down for a minute.”

You can check out the whole live stream above. It's hugely entertaining and one of the highlights of the whole day.

Ahsoka's Untold Tales

Around the same time as Mark Hamill's Q&A, Pablo Hidalgo, Ashley Eckstein and Dave Filoni held an hour long discussion on the past, present and future of fan favorite from The Clone Wars and Rebels TV series, Ahsoka Tano.

During the panel, Filoni, the co-creator of both TV shows, jumped around the subject of Ahsoka returning to Rebels in the near future. Following the epic Season 2 finale, her fate was left ambiguous and Filoni had stated that she was unlikely to appear again on the show. However, when talking to Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka, at Celebration, he went back on his statement, saying:

“It just might be possible. It doesn’t necessarily mean what some of us would hope it means. But it might be possible to see her again. She might have something to do.”

The panel also revealed the cover to a new canon Star Wars novel, titled simply, Ahsoka, set for release later this year. If you're a fan of The Clone Wars or Rebels, you're definitely going to want to check this one out.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

And finally, the Rogue One panel. I've already done a write up on this one that you can check out here but, for the sake of convenience, I'll sum it up for you in three words:

Paradise, Spoilers, Vader

Due to that second one, the full panel is yet to be release on YouTube. So instead, have a watch of the "sizzle reel" instead. It's a truly fantastic piece of video that you'll find yourself watching over and over, trying to soak in every last detail. For a better rundown of the Rogue One panel you can check out the previous article or have a look at the shorter interview below with the Lucasfilm Story Group just below.

Friday was a huge day at Star Wars Celebration Europe and will go down in history as one of the best (and worst) live events ever. Be sure to check out the daily livestreams on starwars.com and the official Star Wars YouTube Channel.
