It's been nearly a month since the tragic passing of legendary Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin on June 19th. The world hasn't forgotten as he continues to be mourned, and it will all become oh-so-real when Star Trek Beyond is released to US theaters on July 22nd. The latest addition to the franchise is one of Yelchin's last productions, in which the 27-year-old reprised his role as the iconic Pavel Chekov.

Fans, celebrities, and Star Trek costars have expressed their heartache, tributes and condolences; his fellow cast even canceled events in his honor. However, Yelchin's parents remained discreet amidst their grief, which is only natural considering the heartbreaking circumstances. Irina and Viktor Yelchin finally broke their silence with a message displayed in an issue of The Hollywood Reporter.

The mournful message is one of gratitude to all those who have loved their son and for everyone who showed support after their loss:

Thank you to all of you who have sent flowers and gifts, for your condolences and kind words and to all who came to celebrate the life of our dear son, Anton. We are deeply grateful for your unconditional love… He would be surprised at how many hearts and souls he touched. Thank you very much.

There isn't much that can be put in words regarding the loss of one's child, but Anton Yelchin's parents are extremely brave for dealing with such a highly publicized tragedy in such a graceful manner. All we can do is express our condolences, hope that his loved ones make it through these dark times, and make sure his name is never forgotten.

Here are some of the many kind words his parents were undoubtedly referring to, in which Yelchin's family is addressed:

John Cho and Zachary Quinto were both fellow members of the cast of the Star Trek franchise, giving them the opportunity to get to know the great Yelchin. To no surprise, his reach extended far beyond the Star Trek cast, showcasing just how many hearts and souls he really touched, as his parents so beautifully remarked.

Little can be said that does the young actor's life justice, but it certainly helps for everyone to be showing their love and support. His parents can take comfort that their son accomplished so much and affected so many lives, regardless of how early he was taken away. RIP Anton Yelchin.
