Saban's Power Rangers Movie, set for release 2017,has given us an explosion of new images recently to get the fans hyped. Lots of new images have been revealed including new character posters to promote the movie, an image of the Ranger's without their full helmets and even a first look at the upcoming line of toys for the movie. However, one image that did get revealed recently, was the Power Coins that give the young heroes their ability to morph and become the Power Rangers.

Unlike the originals, these new coins look more cybernetic, with gold and colored crystal. This is drastically different to the one seen in the 1990s, as they depicted the ancient beasts that powered the Rangers. What is interesting is, this could have revealed to us who the iconic evil Green Ranger is.

Fans theorized a while back that Rita could in fact be the fallen Green Ranger, as her outfit has many aspects that are similar to the Ranger's own suits for the movie. Well, if we now look at Rita with her staff in hand, see if you notice anything.

At the top of the staff you can clearly see a green disc which is identical to the Power Coins. This confirms that she will still have possession of the Green Power Coin, but is she a fallen Ranger herself? The one thing that Saban has always said is that this will be a different Power Rangers story from the original 1990s Power Rangers. Tommy Oliver (the original Green Ranger) is the most iconic Ranger in the franchise's history, for multiple reasons.

He firstly, holds the record for being a Ranger in more Power Rangers series than any other character. Secondly, he has been more colors than any other Ranger, including Green, White, Red and Black. Thirdly, look at his character's history of being used for evil only to join the team, loosing his powers, regaining his powers, loosing his powers again, becoming a new Ranger and then leader the team and guiding them through multiple crisis. He has even acted as a mentor to a new set of Rangers before gaining new powers again and joining their team.

Some fans would find a new Tommy harder to accept than they would a new Jason, Kimberly, Billy, Trini or Zack. So perhaps this time Saban has decided to turn the Ranger female! If he did take the brave choice in doing this, it would solve so many questions behind the film as Rita would be the active villain herself. It could also mean the final Megazord battle will be waged between the Ranger's Megazord and the Green Ranger's Dragonzord.

With the news picking up on the new film it is safe to say more can be expect soon, including the first teaser trailer. The movie set to take a new spin on an old idea, so anything is possible, and Rita being a former Power Ranger would be a sure way for them to separate the two stories. What do you think?
