Now that the Flarrowverse has brought us Supergirl and Superman, who is missing? A recent Movie Pilot post suggested they may even be bringing in Batman and Batwoman. With all the Wonder Woman excitement surrounding her 75th anniversary and the upcoming standalone movie (the trailer for which just dropped at this weekend's SDCC), you have to think DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, who co-wrote the standalone, has his eyes on bringing her to the CW.
So who would be cast in the most famous TV version of Wonder Woman since Linda Carter? Here are five bold possibilities that would be amazing in the role.
5. Camilla Luddington
Fans of Camilla Luddington on Grey's Anatomy know she is talented and beautiful enough for the role, but many do not know that she would rock the action sequences too. Luddington performed all of the motion capture as Lara Croft in the hit video games Tomb Raider (2013) and Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015)
4. Lyndie Greenwood
This Canadian actress is one of my favorites on this list. She is a veteran television actress with over 80 combined episodes of Nikita and Sleepy Hollow under her belt. Lyndie is also trained in Martial Arts and loves playing strong women. None stronger than Wonder Woman.
3. Indira Varma
Varma is currently a regular on Game of Thrones, but, as fans of the show know, she is in danger of being killed off at anytime. And with news that the show will delay the start of principal photography on the new season, she is likely to have some time on her hands. Indira also was a regular on the HBO show Rome, and has shown us time and time again she can do the period pieces. Perfect for flashback scenes or if they write any Themyscira storylines.
1b. Ioanna Triantafyllidou
Ioanna is a veteran of Greek television, having starred in 172 episodes of the Greek hit Min arhizeis ti mourmoura. She is now making the transition to a career in the United States. At six feet tall, Ioanna is a literal Greek goddess and perfect to play the daughter of Zeus. Ioanna was rumored to be up for the role of Elektra on Daredevil before that role went to Elodie Yung.
1a. Julia Voth
Like Camilla Luddington, Julia is a veteran of the gaming world, having been the model for Jill Valentine in the Resident Evil video games. We have also seen her as a woman not to be messed with in the cult classic Bitch Slap. Julia has a large fan following from the video games and can often be found doing her own cosplay at comic conventions.
Will We Even See Wonder Woman On CW?
We know that Geoff Johns has an affinity for this character, and if she is written into the storyline of one of their shows, he will make sure that she fits in with the rest of CW cast. The fans will have their favorites much like most thought, or hoped, that the Superman casting would be CW alum's Tom Welling, Ian Somerholder, or Matt Cohen. But Johns and casting director David Rapaport have shown they are as likely to go outside of CW and surprise us with an under-the-radar actor. But first, we need that announcement many are hoping for. Maybe at San Diego Comic-Con we will get our wish and learn that Wonder Woman is coming.
