Yesterday's Luke Cage panel at SDCC gave fans everything they could ever have hoped for - including our first teaser for The Defenders! Due next year, The #Defenders will unite Marvel's already-hugely-successful Netflix superheroes - #Daredevil, #JessicaJones, #LukeCage and #IronFist- against a deadly threat. But what sort of evil could unite such disparate superheroes? Ironically, the teaser reveals a lot more than you'd think - take a look!

It's pretty cool, even if it is sparse in details. No surprise there, though; Luke Cage and Iron Fist haven't even been released yet. Surprisingly, though, there's one detail here that tells us a lot about what's going to happen in The Defenders.

Stick is also due to appear in The Defenders...

The clip features a voice-over by Scott Glenn, who's best known to #Marvel fans for playing the part of Stick. Daredevil's erstwhile mentor, Stick is locked in a long-standing mystic war against the Hand, a ninja cult who threatened Hell's Kitchen in Daredevil Season 2.

Although Daredevil Season 2 saw Charlie Cox's Daredevil successfully drive the Hand back, with Stick killing one of their leaders, the reality is that the Hand won that encounter. They'd headed to Hell's Kitchen in pursuit of the Black Sky, a being fated to become their leader. The Black Sky was revealed to be Elodie Yung's Elektra Nachios, Daredevil's love, who died in that final battle.

What Daredevil and Stick both forgot is that resurrections are the Hand's stock in trade. Daredevil Season 2 ended with Elektra resurrected by the Hand in order to become their leader. In the comics at least, the sorcery the Hand use to resurrect someone twists them to the Hand's dark bidding. They got their Black Sky.

If Stick is appearing in The Defenders, it's a safe bet that the Hand are returning to New York. This time, under the leadership of Elektra, they're about to threaten the entire city - and Daredevil won't be able to stand alone against them.

It makes sense to use Daredevil as a springboard for The Defenders. As the first of #MarvelNetflix, and arguably the best to date, Daredevil has a special place in fans' hearts. The Hand are a powerful enemy, one with greater potential than any criminal mastermind like Kilgrave or Cottonmouth, and easily serve as a great enough threat to unite the Defenders.
