While Spider-Man is one of the most well-known superheroes out there, yet another reboot of the franchise seemed like overkill when it was first announced. After all, Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man debuted only five years after Sam Raimi's final installment of his Spider-Man trilogy and a new Peter Parker would mean a third actor within less than a decade. However, once Tom Holland's Spider-Man was introduced in Captain America: Civil War, it became clear that the upcoming movie is something we should look forward to.
Tom Holland's Spider-Man is absolutely adorable and dorky in the best way possible. This fresh face might just provide a revival to mainstream Spidey-love.
Tom Holland's Peter Parker: The Most Relatable Spidey Yet?
Every reboot has its own take on the character. Tobey Macguire's character was the boy-next-door, facing the crush struggle we can all relate to. We rooted for him once he got his powers because his good heart deserved them. On the other hand, Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man was a brilliant rebel. He didn't always make the best decisions, but he was trying and he meant well. Holland's character, however, is one of us.
While fighting with and against the Avengers, he was fanboying the entire time, and shared real life struggles with real-life teenagers, like whether he'd be able to get his homework done on time. He came across as a good kid, a regular kid, and someone we can all remember being at one point in our lives.
Who else knows? Anybody? Not even your unusually attractive Aunt? - Tony Stark, Captain America: Civil War
Aunt May just seems to be getting younger, doesn't she? Having Aunt May as a much younger woman is an interesting twist on the Spider-Man we're used to, and a dramatic change such as this is a bold move. I look forward to seeing how it will play out- especially as we've seen Tony Stark flirt with Aunt May in Captain America: Civil War!
Spidey and Vulture in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
This movie is going to take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, meaning Spidey's story can interweave with the likes of Iron Man, Captain America and the rest of the Marvel characters. Marvel has been bringing its game ever since 2008, so we can expect nothing less from this reboot.
Vulture was recently announced to be the main villain in Homecoming, and this is a real treat! In the original comics, he is the first super villain Spidey encounters, and it will be awesome to see him come alive on the big screen. Vulture is big, bad and provides a lot of room for creativity. He's an excellent choice for the new movie's antagonist.
Spider-man: Homecoming is going to be a fresh take on the iconic character and we've already seen how well the changes can be delivered. Better yet, it's only a year until we can see it all play out on the big screen!
