It would seem that Girl Meets World might still have some pages to turn in its story, though fans were worried it might be otherwise.

A massive reunion between the casts of Girl Meets World and its predecessor, Boy Meets World, is what started the flood of worried tweets. Instagram and Twitter posts from Girl Meets World stars Rowan Blanchard and August Maturo, who play the children of Cory and Topanga Matthews (Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, who originated their roles in Boy Meets World), did little to put fans of both shows at ease.

The Instagram post from Maturo featured a brief video of the Girl Meets World audience chanting, "more seasons."

Not so fast, though. Disney has not commented about speculation that the show is cancelled as yet, and according to Variety, a network rep said that more Girl Meets World episodes will continue to air through 2017.

Also, a fan-generated petition has also been sparked by the rumors of a potential Girl Meets World cancellation. The petition states that, should the show be cancelled, it should instead be moved to a new network called Freeform. iTech reports that fans are very hopeful that the network will consider such a move, as they believe that a shift to Freeform would allow character stories to be explored more deeply and that issues the show chooses to explore will be able to be explored in greater scope.

Uriah Justus, who plays Cory's much younger brother on both Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World, also took to Instagram and said how much he would miss everyone, which fuelled fan speculation that Girl Meets World was on the chopping block.

Here's the deal, though; no one seems to know for sure whether Justus was saying that his current story arc is coming to an end or if Girl Meets World was setting up to take a final bow.

With the big wedding coming up between Shawn (Rider Strong) and Katy (Cheryl Texiera), it isn't a big surprise that both casts are uniting; Shawn became a cornerstone in many ways of Boy Meets World, in much the same way as Cory did, so everyone who means something to Shawn should make an appearance at the Shawn-Katy wedding. However, with the Girl Meets World writers tweeting that the cast of Boy Meets World is coming to the show to help "us" make a major decision, and emotional tweets from Blanchard, Maturo and Justus, fans are really quite concerned that Girl Meets World is facing an uncertain future.

It would appear, though, that the show is just ending its season, not its run; some have suggested it's still early to decide whether or not the show is going to be renewed or cancelled, but it is clear that there is still high fan demand for the show.
