It's no secret that Walt Disney Animation Studios loves to place hidden cameos within its films, and an astute eye can often catch a glimpse of an out-of-place character lurking on the screen for a second or two. Some are pretty blatant additions meant to be noticed, but others are far less obvious to the casual viewer.

Whether obvious or subtle, there's no doubt that they're enjoyable additions to the films, helping to link the stories together and give attentive viewers an added treat. Here's a look at 6 of the lesser-known Disney cameos.

1. Bambi's mom in "The Jungle Book"

It's implied that Bambi's mother was shot in the middle of that film, and yet here she is twenty-five years later in "The Jungle Book". Even her posing is the same. Even if she hadn't died, she still has an inordinately long life for a deer, since she shows up yet again a decade later.

2. Bambi's mom in "The Rescuers"

Blink and you might miss this one. Shown on-screen for only a moment, we're graced with an image of both Bambi and his mother in the Bayou where the film takes place. Sure, it's not a very clear image, so you could easily argue that these are two completely different deer. Where's the fun in that, though?

3. Peg in "101 Dalmatians"

Peg, the streetwise, crooning dog from "Lady & the Tramp" gets out of the pound only to find herself for sale in a pet store in "101 Dalmatians". Poor pup just can't catch a break. Luckily, she must get adopted eventually, since she's later seen alongside two other familiar faces.

4. Peg, Jock, and Trusty in "Oliver & Company"

Quickly shown on screen as the famous "Why Should I Worry?" tune begins, it's nice to see that all three dogs are alive and well, out for walks with their owners.

5. Goofy, Donald, and Mickey in "The Little Mermaid"

If you don't have super-human vision (or a pause button), good luck spotting this cameo. As King Triton makes his grand entrance, Goofy, Donald, and Mickey are just barely visible for a split second in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. Their attendance here is a bit worrisome: How exactly are they able to breathe under water? Disney logic, people.

6. Bill in "The Great Mouse Detective

Originally appearing as a chimney sweep in "Alice in Wonderland", Bill the lizard seems to have hit some hard times, reappearing years later as one of Ratigan's henchmen in "The Great Mouse Detective". Perhaps all that time spent in Wonderland finally got to him.

These are just a few of the numerous cameos Walt Disney Animation Studios has peppered throughout their films over the years. It's an entertaining game to play as you're reliving your childhood - spot the out of place character. You need a sharp eye, and oftentimes you need to know what you're looking for, otherwise you can easily miss it. There are plenty of appearances that people have come to recognize over the years, and likely even more that may not be as well-known. It's just one more detail that makes watching these movies so much fun.

Have you spotted any easy-to-miss cameos in Disney movies?
