This post contains major 'The Walking Dead' comic book (Issues 108 & 110) spoilers!

When the Comic-Con trailer of Season 7 of The Walking Dead was released, we were all searching for clues as to who got Lucilled in Season 6's finale that we (almost) missed the grand introduction of King Ezekiel, a new leader with a tiger at his side!

Although we only get glimpses of King Ezekiel here and there in the trailer, all of his scenes make an impression on us! If you're a comic book fan, then you're sure to recognize this character, but if you're not, you might ask yourself: Who's King Ezekiel? Here's everything you need to know about this new character, played by Khary Payton, going into Season 7 of AMC's The Walking Dead.

King Ezekiel Is A Direct Adaptation From The Comics

Comic book fans are sure to recognize this character especially because his onscreen look is really close to the source material. Everything from his hairstyle, shirt and boots is directly adapted from the comic book! Could this also mean that his storyline will remain very similar as well? If so, then we can also assume that...

He's An Eccentric Character And A Hilltop Friend

King Ezekiel is in friendly terms with the Hilltop community and he's Jesus's good friend. He also deeply hates Negan and what he stands for! So, if this is the case for the TV version, we're most likely going to see him fight alongside Rick!

King Ezekiel has a flamboyant personality and is often described as theatrical — I mean look at his tiger and that throne! He's a guy who tries to more or less to look at the positive side of things. He's also charismatic, like all the leaders but a little more eccentric than others.

He's The Self-Proclaimed King Of The Community Called The Kingdom

We've established that Ezekiel is eccentric. So it's only natural that he's a self-proclaimed King who calls his community "The Kingdom." The trailer doesn't leave any mystery as to this since he himself exclaims: "I'm King Ezekiel, welcome to the Kingdom."

We get sneak peak of the Kingdom in the trailer (see above). We can also catch a glimpse of Carol on a wheelchair being pushed by Morgan. The Kingdom was teased back at the Season 6 finale! If you recall, Morgan and Carol were together when the mounted Kingdom guards showed up.

Meet Shiva, King Ezekiel's Pet Tiger

In his pre-Apocalypse life (as seen in Issue 110) Ezekiel was a zookeeper. As a zookeeper he got to meet his tiger Shiva when she was born and managed to keep her on his side after the outbreak. While still a zookeeper, Shiva had an aggressive outbreak and attacked him, but he didn't report it because he didn't want to see her euthanized. Shiva and Ezekiel share a special bond: Shiva isn't just a pet, she's also a guard.

His Cane Is A Shikomizue

Ezekiel's cane isn't just for decoration! It's a Japanese shikomizue, which essentially means that it's a cane concealing a sword! Does the show have space for two sword-wielders? We could potentially see a show down between him and Michonne!

In The Comic, He Hooks Up With Michonne

Ouch! Don't worry, this is very unlikely to happen on the show especially after Rick and Michonne finally took their relationship to the next level and Richonne is now a thing. Michonne's onscreen version has been very different than that of the comic (thankfully) and she's now in what appears to be Andrea's role.

King Ezekiel is a fan character and I'm looking forward to see Khary Payton's performance! What do you think of King Ezekiel so far? Season 7 of The Walking Dead premiers on October 24th!
