Cosplay, the trend of dressing up like one's favorite character, does not appear to be going away any time soon. Whether they're at a movie premiere, a convention, or just at the mall, cosplayers love to show off the costumes they've designed. It appears to be a growing trend, allowing some talented people to show off their talents by making remarkable costumes.

Last week, an Internet cosplayer received a lot of attention for her own personal twist on a certain popular superhero. Dania Khalil (aka Hijabi Hooligan), a rising female, Muslim cosplayer from North East England, is no stranger to cosplay, but was graciously surprised when an image of a costume she has been working on for a while received quite a bit of attention.

As an occasional cosplayer, I have to say this cosplay is brilliant. Not only is the costume similar to the original Captain America's, but she has added her own twists to make it more personal. In much of her work, Dan will add her own unique twists to the outfit to make it more personal.

While many cosplayers will try to make themselves look exactly like the original character, Dan acknowledges the differences between herself and her characters. Through this acknowledgement, she is able to identify what needs to be changed to the original costume in order to make it suit her, while still looking like the original.

Surprisingly, this certain cosplay did not receive much hatred online. This is very enlightening, as it shows how the world has become more accustomed to diversity in their lives.

The only bit of negative feedback that this costume received was the American flag, as some claimed it was inappropriate to wear the flag that way. Hijabi Hooligan immediately responded to this by clarifying that it was actually a scarf and not a flag. She even posted a link to where you can buy the scarf.

Many fans of her costume offered to design a better shield for the cosplayer, but she instead used the attention for a better cause. Instead of wanting a shield, she wanted everyone to take their offers and put the money into helping Syria.

Hijabi Hooligan created a GoFundMe for Syria Relief, which she shared on her page. Currently, she has raised £915, which is pretty incredible and will go to a fantastic cause. You can donate too here.

Hijabi Hooligan is truly a fantastic cosplayer. Her unique twists on her costumes are intriguing to see, and she deserves the publicity she has recently received. She has done a lot more than just playing Captain America, though. Here are some of her other cosplays...

Her incredible designs and visions are truly entertaining to see. Not only this, but Dan has proven that she is not looking for ego-boosting publicity. Instead, she is using the sudden, unexpected publicity to raise money for a great cause.

By taking the original character and adding her own unique traits, Hijabi Hooligan has proven herself a cosplayer to watch out for. I am looking forward to Dan's next feat. Be sure to like her page to see more awesome cosplay from Hijabi Hooligan!
