Due to the recent backlash of Ghostbusters being rebooted, and the 70 million dollar lose the film is taking, Lets check out some films that beg for a reboot. Let's leave the classics alone.

5. My Science Project

Have you ever had a science project due, so you broke into an abandoned government facility to look for one, finding out later that you stole an alien time travel device that turns your school into an actual history lesson? Yeah, me either! This fun film from the eighties is a dated trek through time that begs for a remake, due to its practical and visual effects. Dennis Hopper makes a cameo appearance as an ex-hippy teacher, who didn't see that coming? A modern take on this story would be a fun film with the technology we have today to give it a proper update.

4. Resident Evil

The Resident Evil franchise is coming to an end in January 2017 with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. The story of Alice and her band of friends fighting against the zombie apocalypse has been a fun, mindless ride. When the first film was release 16 years ago I always thought it was a wasted chance to make an awesome horror franchise, not some action extravaganza with horror elements and cool slo-motion shots. Resident Evil could have been so much more, catching the mystery, gore, and horror of the first few games. Maybe it's too soon now to reboot Resident Evil, but a new take and different direction would be interesting to see in the future.

3. The Last Starfighter

Another eighties film that has been brought down with it's dated effects. Thirty years ago computer graphics were cutting edge, and this film was one of the first to incorporate it into it's story. A film about a young man whose addiction to a video game, a game which turns out to be a test to see his skills as a Starfighter, makes him into an intergalactic hero from a trailer park. Who can't see this as a remake about young men being recruited through their PS4 consoles? There has been some news of a possible TV show in the works called The Starfighter Chronicles but not much else has been discussed lately.

2. 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

This classic hasn't had a decent remake in the sixty years since it's original release. Kirk Douglas was in his prime during this science fiction spectacle that's still fun to watch. Can you believe Douglas is still around at the age of 98? A remake is supposedly in the works, but I'll believe it when I see it. Hopefully we get something close to what the book gave us, a dark tale not for the faint of heart with action and visuals to make your imagination go wild.

1. Gremlins

This is a beloved film to many and myself. Gremlins is still great today, and the sequel is even a fun watch but didn't have the same magic the original had. A complete remake would be a travesty, but a soft reboot like what they did with Jurassic World or Star Wars: The Force Awakens would be something I'd like to see. Who wouldn't want to see Gizmo back on the big screen fighting his ghoulish brothers and sisters in another feature film that takes place in the same universe as the original?

Do you agree with this list or do you have other films you'd wish to see remade?
