I don't watch a lot of TV shows, but one of the shows that I have been watching is Penn & Teller: Fool Us. How the show works is magicians are bought on the show where they get to perform their best trick in front of legendary magic duo Penn & Teller. If the magician is good enough to fool Penn & Teller, he/she gets to be the opening act for one of their shows at the Rio All-Suites Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.
And now, I'm counting down my top 5 favorite magic acts that appeared on the show.
5. Kostya Kimlat
On the show, Kimlat performed an effect called the Roadrunner Cull where he took the cards, shuffled them in two ways so that there would be sides facing up and sides facing down. The effect he eventually performed wasn't only great, but so was Penn's reaction. You need to watch it. It's priceless.
4. Piff the Magic Dragon
There is no full YouTube video for his trick, but you can watch it by clicking here.
Piff did a trick called "VDP". It's hard to explain, but basically quarter-by-quarter, he changes a spectator's card into a different card. I've done the trick before and it is genuinely difficult to do. It takes a while and presenting it is not easy.
3. Shawn Farquhar
Farquhar performed a trick that he does not sell (but I have an idea on how it works), but he teleports a deck of cards into a sealed pack. It's very cool and he fooled them. He later came back in season 3 and fooled them again.
2. Steven Brundage
YES! In case you didn't know, Brundage is on this season of America's Got Talent. He taught me everything I know about Rubik's Cube magic and performed on Fool Us with an amazing routine called "Cube3". You need to watch it. It is amazing (I know how it works, but it really is mind-blowing).
1. Shin Lim
Amazing. Absolutely amazing.
This was my favorite act that I have ever seen on Fool Us. What you see is pure magic. It's sleight of hand done so well it looks like real magic. You need to watch this. It is beautifully composed and performed. It's called "The Dream Act" and you can buy it here.
