It's not unreasonable to say Michelle Pfeiffer is a household name. Four decades in the business have given Michelle several great opportunities to showcase what she can do and how valuable she is to the industry. She's known for iconic and beloved roles in films such as Scarface, Dangerous Liaisons, White Oleander, What Lies Beneath, The Fabulous Baker Boys, Grease 2 and especially in her most iconic role to date as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in Tim Burton's Batman Returns.

But within the last two decades of her spectacular career, the famously shy Pfeiffer's career has taken a back seat to her family. Her longest span of time between projects was the four year gap between the 2003 animated disappointment Sinbad and her triumphant 2007 return to the silver screen with doubly devious roles in Hairspray and Stardust, two performances that came together to earn Ms. Pfeiffer her very own spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Now that 2017 is closer than ever, we have 3 brand new releases - along with a potential TV series - starring the 3-time Oscar nominee to look forward to in the new year. Let's check them out.

1. The Wizard Of Lies

  • Release Date: TBA

The latest of the HBO original films take on real-life events, Michelle Pfeiffer stars alongside Robert De Niro as Ruth and Bernie Madoff in the retelling of the infamous Ponzi scheme that is widely considered to be the largest case of financial fraud in American history. The film is directed by the Academy Award-winning director of Rain Man, Barry Levinson. It's based on a book by Diana B. Henriques, who will also make a brief appearance in the film as herself. Though the film has been finished for some time, HBO decided to wait until 2017 to air it due to the fact that ABC was airing their own adaptation back in February. Rumors suggest we can expect the film to air as early as March 2017.

2. Beat-Up Little Seagull

  • Release Date: TBA

This film is an upcoming release from the same studio that brought us the Oscar-winning adaption of the Lisa Genova novel Still Alice. Michelle Pfeiffer stars as a sensitive woman who has difficulties navigating life in a rough-and-tumble, fast-paced world. She is pushed to the brink when her mother dies and she has to develop survival skills in this new phase of her life. She is wrestling with all this while attempting to hide her struggles from her new boyfriend, played by Kiefer Sutherland. The film has already garnered some buzz as a potential surprise indie hit, but has yet to make any appearances at any film festivals. With a year so stacked with amazing performances from many wonderful leading ladies, it's no wonder they've decided to keep this gem in pristine condition until the time is perfect to unveil what is sure to be a cinematic masterpiece.

3. Day 6

  • Release Date: December 21, 2017

This new flick, penned and directed by the visionary Darren Aronofsky will see an ensemble cast that includes Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Domhnall Gleeson, and Michelle Pfeiffer bring to life the tale of a couple whose relationship is tested when unexpected guests arrive at their home, disrupting their seemingly peaceful existence. I don't know about you, but I see an awful lot of Oscar nominations headed this way. With filming likely to wrap within the next week, hopefully further information will leak from the closely guarded set, just enough to whet our appetites while we wait for December 2017.

I can't tell you how excited I am for these new films or how elated I am that Michelle Pfeiffer is finally returning to our screens. Hopefully it lasts a bit longer this time around.
