The Conjuring 2 treated us to a number of villains: the Crooked Man, The Nun and the demon behind it all, Valak, but it's The Nun who emerged as the enduring icon of the movie. She's been correspondingly rewarded with her own Nun spin-off movie, but did you know that the actor who plays The Nun in The Conjuring 2 is actually a semi-familiar face for fans of horror... or the Princess Diaries!
The actor made so terrifying by the highly effective Nun make-up is the talented Bonnie Aarons, who has appeared in a number of movies and also written and produced various episodes of hit TV show And You Know Who You Are.

Bonnie Aarons, the Actor Who Made The Nun Happen in The Conjuring 2
Bonnie Aarons was effectively creepy in The Conjuring 2, but I had no idea that she had actually scared me totally, utterly shitless in Mulholland Drive many years before. Seen above is Aarons in the 'bum' make-up — remember the scene where that wild, unkempt creature leaps out at the characters behind the diner? Yup, that was her. Probably the single most startling movie moment to date, and made Aarons a shoe-in for the terrifying Nun role.
From horror to high society, Aarons may also be familiar to you from The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, where she plays the expansive Baroness Joy von Troken.
Bonnie Aarons has a number of horror movie credits to her name, including The Closet, Drag Me To Hell, I Know Who Killed Me and Mullholland Drive. You can see her in the 2017 Twin Peaks reboot project, as she's listed in the cast on IMDb.
