There's a little less than a year until Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming is heading to the big screen, and it's never too early to start speculating about what characters might appear in the film. Firstly, I thought Zendaya might be playing Silk, but it looks like she will be playing Mary Jane Watson. Honestly, I think she will be a wonderful character and love interest in for Peter.
As always, I'm sure a lot of people will be unhappy with the casting of Zendaya, but most fans will be thrilled just to have Peter's longtime love interest back on the big screen! What's even more interesting; Tiffany Espensen (Bucket and Spinner) might have been cast as Cindy Moon! Back in March, you can read my prediction on who I thought might be cast as Silk -- unfortunately though, I was wrong
For all those who aren't familiar; Cindy Moon was bitten by a radioactive spider on the same fateful day as Peter during the same field trip. She was kept away hidden by Ezekiel from Morlun; because she was to believe to be The Bride.
The Bride is one of the big three Spider-Totems that the Inheritors need to complete a ritual that would make it no longer a neccessity for them to fee on totemic beings. The other two: The Other is Kaine, and The Scion is Benji Paker (May Parker's little brother) -- and that would not have ended well with anyone endowed with magical spider powers.
- We've been getting quite a bit of casting news as of late. I mean, Bookem Woodbine would be an amazing Shocker! Also, I would totally root for Peter Dinklage playing J. Jonah Jameson, and have him yelling at Peter for being an incompetent IT guy if that were ever to happen!
Can you believe we're getting - Thor: Ragnarok, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming - all next year! I try not to hate on DC, especially with Wonder Woman and Justice League on their way next year, but we most definitely spoiled in our entertainment choices. I love all these movies, but nothing even compares to Spider-Man: Homecoming back at Marvel! I mean, if it is done right. Do you think it has a better chance of beating Star Wars 8 at the box office? I'm not entirely sure, but I think is has a larger worldwide fan base than even Star Wars!
Lastly, I know the movie wants to be John-Hughes inspired, and I'm not quite sure what exactly that means. We all know that it's going to be funny. Will the dorky guy all of a sudden get a Miss America-type? Or, will four outcast be taken over by The Vulture, and then they must escape, just like in Breakfast Club?
Honestly, I want all spider-powered beings in the MCU, and its definitely for selfish reasons. I'm not too worried about Jessica Drew because she's best friends with Captain Marvel, and that seems like a no-brainer to include her in Danvers' solo movie. The only problem Marvel could possibly have -- then it would have diminishing results for Peter. But yet, Peter is the most popular hero in the world, and I can see nothing that will change that!
