What else do we need for Christmas than a good, heartwarming family movie? From the first trailer for Illumination Entertainment's Sing, you can already tell the animated musical ticks all the boxes: Not only do we have the likes of Matthew McConaughey and Scarlett Johansson belting out tunes, but the multiple character-driven stories seem to pack the perfect mix of humor and drama.

At the center of Sing is Buster Moon, a koala who decides to organize a singing competition to save his theater from bankruptcy. It doesn't take long for the hype to catch on, and suddenly many realize their lives could change on that stage. Each character has a very distinct personality and singing style, so meet the voice actors bringing them to life!

Matthew McConaughey – Buster Moon

Matthew McConaughey voices Buster Moon, the brain behind this entire operation. His defining characteristic? His unwavering optimism.

"You know what's great about hitting rock bottom? There's only one way to go, and it's up!"

Reese Witherspoon – Rosita

As a housewife and mother to 25 piglets, Rosita doesn't have a moment to herself — so when she catches a flyer for the singing competition, she finally sees an opportunity to make her teenage dreams come true.

Taron Egerton – Johnny

Taron Egerton, whom you probably discovered in Kingsman: Secret Service, is playing Johnny. Johnny the mountain gorilla couldn't be further from what his criminal of a father expects from him — and he just so happens to have a beautiful singing voice.

Seth MacFarlane – Mike

Not everyone in the contest is a shy teenager with big dreams: Some are just after the big prize, like MacFarlane's Mike. Mike knows how to sing, but he probably wants the money for his frequent poker games.

Scarlett Johansson – Ash

Ash the porcupine is a confident rock singer, and she'll allow us to hear more of Johansson's singing.

John C. Reilly – Eddie

Eddie, a Suffolk sheep, is Buster's partner in the management of the theater, but he doesn't share the same optimistic faith in the future. Still, he'll tag along with his buddy on the craziest adventures.

Tori Kelly – Meena

Tori Kelly couldn't be a more appropriate choice to play Meena, the Indian elephant with the voice of a future star: She was herself discovered recently on YouTube and has since released her first big hit! The one thing that Meena doesn't share with her is that she has incredible stage fright.

Nick Kroll – Bob

When Rosita signs up for the competition, she finds a dance partner in Bob. Unfortunately Bob can be as clueless as his German accent is strong.

Nick Offerman – Norman

Rosita's husband Norman is the ultimate cliché of the work-obsessed, always busy man, who's only at home to eat and sleep (and father twenty piglets or so).

Leslie Jones – Miss Crawl

Count on Miss Crawl for the comic relief! This old iguana is Buster's assistant and agrees to help Johnny learn piano, and she won't beat around the bush when he asks for her feedback.

Sing is set for release on December 21, 2016.
