The day someone green-lights a Marvel Zombies Ghibli film directed by Xavier Dolan is the day I will be happy. Any day now...

It's only been five years since Chris Hemsworth first graced us with his godly presence onscreen in the MCU, but both the Asgardians and mere mortals who starred in Thor have been extremely busy since the film first hit cinemas in 2011.

While the majority of the cast haven't aged too dramatically, the likes of Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman clearly drank too much mead on set if some of the bizarre career choices they've made since are anything to go by.

Join us as we take a look at how the cast of Thor have embraced everything from Asian comedies and chocolate fingers to prosthetic penises in just five short years. Seems like Loki isn't the only one who enjoys some mischief after all!

Most Recent Role - Hemsworth ironically proved that he's far more versatile than people give him credit for by playing man-bimbo Kevin in Ghostbusters. Stay for his dance at the end of the film. It will give you life.

Craziest Role Since Thor - In the comedy Vacation, Chris wields a hammer even larger than Thor's in a scene where's he stripped down to his briefs. The 10 inch prosthetic penis ultimately stole the show and became the indisputable highlight of this otherwise average sequel.

Next Role To Look Out For - Thor: Ragnarok is the Marvel buddy movie we've all been waiting for, pitting the God of Thunder alongside the not-so jolly green giant on a cosmic road journey.

Natalie Portman (Jane Foster)

Most Recent Role - Portman's role in Terence Malick's Knight Of Cups is a stark reminder of the Oscar winner's potential that deserves to be seen by a wider audience.

Craziest Role Since Thor - For her directorial debut, A Tale Of Love And Darkness, Portman plays an immigrant from East Europe, where she speaks Hebrew onscreen for the first time — because, you know, directing a movie isn't challenging enough.

Next Role To Look Out For - Portman will next be seen onscreen in Jackie, playing First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy during the aftermath of John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963.

Tom Hiddleston (Loki)

Most Recent Role - Every serious actor has to tackle the musical biopic at least once in pursuit of that elusive Oscar, but unfortunately, Hiddleston's portrayal of Hank Williams in I Saw The Light only scored a depressing 21% on Rotten Tomatoes. Stick to mischief-making please, Loki.

Craziest Role Since Thor - Muppets: Most Wanted featured more cameos than Miss Piggy has admirers, but one of the best was undoubtedly Hiddleston's portrayal of the Great Escapo, a Gulag inmate who specialised in escape artistry.

Next Role To Look Out For - The villainous Loki might have finally met his match in the upcoming blockbuster Kong: Skull Island, which features a giant gorilla with a thing for blondes.

Anthony Hopkins (Odin)

Most Recent Role - Anthony Hopkins is considered to be one of the greatest living actors. His latest film Misconduct may not have won the critics' hearts, but few can argue with the fact that Hopkins remains as compelling as ever.

Craziest Role Since Thor - One could argue that Hopkins has taken a number of questionable parts in recent years, but his role as Noah's grandfather Methuselah in Noah is one of the more eccentric characters he's played for a while.

Next Role To Look Out For - Hopkins will be making an appearance in Transformers: The Last Knight. All we know is that we couldn't be more intrigued to see how the Shakespearean stage actor takes on the world of CGI robots in disguise.

Stellan Skarsgård (Erik Selvig)

Most Recent Role - Skarsgård has been consistently busy in the last five years, appearing most recently in the generic British spy thriller Our Kind of Traitor alongside Ewan McGregor and Naomie Harris.

Craziest Role Since Thor - The two part sex fest Nymphomaniac featured Skarsgård listening to Charlotte Gainsbourg talking about her previous bonk sessions for hours on end — before Skarsgård tried to get a piece of the action too.

Next Role To Look Out For - Flitting between continents like a bird in migration, Skarsgård's next project sees the actor star in a romantic German drama called Return to Montauk.

Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis)

Most Recent Role - Since starring in the Thor franchise, Kat Dennings took the natural next step and played a potty-mouthed waitress in 2 Broke Girls who makes exceptional cupcakes. Oh wait. What?

Craziest Role Since Thor - Lots of actors end up playing themselves at some point, but how many end up playing themselves in a Chinese action comedy set in L.A.? Welcome to Hollywood Adventures.

Next Role To Look Out For - Dennings has capitalised on the international exposure that the Thor franchise provided by starring in yet another season of 2 Broke Girls, which returns for a sixth run this fall.

Idris Elba (Heimdall)

Most Recent Role - Idris Elba's star continued to rise after appearing in the MCU, taking on more and more high-profile blockbusters such as Krall, the disfigured villain of this summers Star Trek: Beyond.

Craziest Role Since Thor - Elba usually tackles serious parts with ease, bringing his natural gravitas to the role. In Pacific Rim, the actor took this to the extreme in a delightfully over-the-top performance as officer Stacker Pentecost.

Next Role To Look Out For - For his next big role, Elba's finally made the complete transition to leading man as the gunslinger Roland in the long-awaited adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower.

Tadanobu Asano (Hogun)

[Via Marvel Studios/Cannes]

Most Recent Role - Japanese actor Asano recently starred in a drama called Harmonium that won the Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. Turns out Hogun was the dark horse of Asgard all along!

Craziest Role Since Thor - Out of all the eccentric movies to come out of Asia in recent years, the Japanese two-parter Parasyte is more bizarre than most. Asano numbers among the cast whose homes are invaded by aliens who take control of their hosts by entering their brains. What makes this film so unusual, though, is that the protagonist of the story is infected in his right hand instead, where the parasite grows an eye and begins to communicate with him.

Next Role To Look Out For - Next up for Asano is an American crime drama called The Outsider, where he stars alongside Jared Leto as a Yakuza prisoner who helps set a captive American soldier free.

Ted Allpress (Young Loki)

[Via Marvel Studios]
[Via Marvel Studios]

Most Recent Role - Allpress clearly has a knack for playing the younger versions of famous historical figures — he recently appeared in Da Vinci's Demons as a young Leonardo Da Vinci.

Craziest Role Since Thor - Allpress may not have appeared in many roles to date, but his short film The Boy With Chocolate Fingers is a project that every aspiring star would want on their resume. Spoilers: The boy's fingers are made of chocolate, but it's ok because he uses them to save his crush from a huge bear trapped in an office.

Next Role To Look Out For - Although the 13-year-old star has no confirmed upcoming projects, given the eclectic nature of his previous work, we expect big things. Watch this space!

Stan Lee (Stan the Man)

[Via Marvel Studios/20th Century Fox]
[Via Marvel Studios/20th Century Fox]

Most Recent Role - Comic book creator and all-round legend Stan Lee last appeared on screen in a surprisingly poignant cameo for X-Men: Apocalypse, where he watched nuclear weapons launch next to his actual wife, Joan Lee.

Craziest Role Since Thor - Lee's had many memorable comic book movie cameos over the years, but his small part in Avengers: Age of Ultron is one of the most mind-bending. How often do writers appear on screen with their creations in a drinking contest? Meta to the extreme.

Next Role To Look Out For - It hasn't been confirmed yet, but we'd be very surprised if Stan Lee didn't appear briefly in Marvel's upcoming Doctor Strange movie, even though the character was actually created by his colleague Steve Ditko soon after the pair devised Spider-Man.
