Will Ferrell has given us some of the most quotable films in recent history, starring in classics such as Anchorman, Step Brothers and Zoolander. He's one of the few hilarious actors that hasn't suffered from 'comedian fatigue' over the years; he's still as funny as he was ever was, and shows no signs of giving up on the comedy genre. So what's next for the funny man? He's got a lot of upcoming projects on his plate, and we're going to look at his next 5! Be sure to comment which film you're most looking forward to!

First up on the list is a comedy/drama that boasts a wonderful cast, including Seth Rogan, James Franco, Megan Fox, Danny McBride and of course, Will Ferrell. Despite not having the lead role (that goes to James Franco), there's no doubt in my mind that Ferrell is going to steal every scene he's in.

The film follows a young actor named Vikar (played by Franco) who arrives in Hollywood in 1969 during a transitional time for the movie industry. Vikar is obsessed with film; to give you an idea of the magnitude of his obsession, he has Montgomery Clift & Elizabeth Taylor from A Place in the Sun tattooed on the back of his head. The film charts his fantastical adventures in the movie industry, and is based on the award-winning novel of the same name by Steve Erickson.

The plot sounds quite interesting and given the fact that Franco is also directing, there's no telling what sort of madness will ensue in this flick! So far there's no trailer for the film, but it's reportedly finished and just waiting to be screened. Keep an eye out for this film, because it will likely be shown at various film festivals.

2. The House

If you had to name comedians who are dominating media right now, Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler would surely spring to mind. Amy Poehler found fame in her role on the hit show Parks and Recreation (above); when she starred as Joy from Disney's Inside Out, she became a household name. Since then she's starred in Sisters, which opened to decent reviews and revenue — but I firmly believe she's only going to get even bigger.

The House is a comedy set for a 2017 release that doesn't boast as strong as cast as the last film on our list, but Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler are both comedic powerhouses, so you don't need much else after them! The plot is that Will Ferrell's character "convinces his friends to start an illegal casino in his basement after he and his wife spend their daughter's college fund". I'm only speculating, but I could so imagine Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler being the irresponsible hilarious parents that come up with the wicked scheme. This is one I'm really excited for. It's expected to be released for the 30th of June next year, so keep an eye out for The House!

3. Holmes and Watson

This is the film I'm most excited for on the whole list; Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly will reuinte to give their own very specific, very funny take on a the classic, Sherlock Holmes. When this film was first announced, I was so shocked and delighted at the same time because this just seems like such a good, but unlikely idea! Director Etan Cohen has only had one real directing gig before this and that was 2015's Get Hard starring Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart!

I think the idea behind this movie is kind of is kind of genius. We have Benedict Cumberbatch's TV Sherlock and there's also Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock Holmes series, but there's no pure comedic version of the characters. That's where Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly come in, and I've no doubt in my mind that this film will be hilarious.

4. Daddy's Home 2

As you know with Hollywood, if a film does well and the cast are up for a sequel, you can be sure it's going to happen. Daddy's Home opened to decent reviews, with an IMDb score of 6.1, which is just about average. If you've seen Daddy's Home, you can imagine what the plot of the second movie is probably going to be. Have a read below to remind yourself.

At the end of Daddy's Home, John Cena turns up and both Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell look exceptionally frightened. So my guess is that the sequel is going to be Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell's characters on good terms and teaming up against John Cena's character. But that's just a guess - we'll probably have to wait til 2017 to find out!

5. Russ & Roger Go Beyond

This Will Ferrell comedy is a true story that revolves around the film you see above, Beyond the Valley of Dolls. The plot of the film is that "independent filmmaker Russ Meyer teams up with film critic and fledgling screenwriter, Roger Ebert to make the 1970 film, "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls". Will Ferrell will be playing the filmmaker Russ Meyer where he will star opposite Frozen star Josh Gad who will be playing the film critic, Roger Ebert.

This movie has all the ingredients to be great, and could even be a critically renowned hit, considering the talent involved! The gifted Irishman John Carney is in the director's chair, with some neat film credentials behind him, such as: Once, Begin Again and the 2016 hit Sing Street. Russ & Roger Go Beyond is currently in development and will probably be released in the next year or two! Keep an eye out for this one, it could be great.

So there you have it: you can see that Will Ferrell has some real exciting films on the way. It could be an unpopular opinion, but I'd love to see Anchorman 3 — I feel like one of the only people who loved Anchorman 2! Who knows? Money speaks in Hollywood and nowadays anything is possible. Let me know in the comments which Will Ferrell film you'd love to see get a sequel!
