You know that familiar feeling? When fall is right around the corner? The leaves begin to rustle in the trees, the sun doesn't stay out for quite as long, and you start to reach for your sweater more than you do your trusty sandals. This also seems to signal the time when I reach for a Harry Potter book, or long to snuggle into my couch and watch one of the movies. There is something about the series that will always feel like home.
With the onset of autumn, let's celebrate Harry Potter with a homage to the intriguing, magical world that J.K. Rowling created.
First up, it's only fitting that we start the journey at Privet Drive, where first we met The Boy Who Lived and the adventure began.
Further illustrations in the series, like this extra-spooky Malfoy Manor, were made upon request via my Tumblr account.
However, not all of the nighttime illustrations are scary! Indeed, Hagrid’s hut looks wonderfully cozy.
Here is Gringotts Wizarding Bank as it appears is in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park at Universal Studios Hollywood, with the pale vault dragon from The Deathly Hallows breathing fire on the roof.
Azkaban even has Dementors whirling around, guarding the premises.
Of course, you simply must indulge in a Butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks Inn.
Many of the illustrations are GIFs that show the magical properties of each location — such as the secret townhouse at 12 Grimmauld Place.
Whether you return to the world of Harry Potter by page or by screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.
