Entertainment Weekly released fresh, new images for Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast. The cover photo gives us a closer look at Emma Watson as Belle in her iconic gold dress and Dan Stevens as the Beast in all his beastly glory.

Let's take a look at the new images side-by-side with the 1991 version and see how the live-action version stacks up to the original.

  • 2017 actors: Dan Stevens and Emma Watson

In addition to the cover photo, this week's issue gives us a series of new images including a closer took at Belle in her regular village garments with the Beast, Maurice, the Beast's castle staff (Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Lumiere and Plumette), as well as Gaston and Le Fou in costume.

I'll hand it to Disney, the castle library looks absolutely incredible.

Why is Mrs. Pott's nose no longer the spout? Why is Lumiere just a tiny man? And why is Plumette a bird? I have so many questions!

Weirdly enough, I'm loving Watson in Belle's blue dress even more than the fancy gold one.

Here we can see Watson as Belle posing with Kevin Kline, who plays her father Maurice in the film. I wonder what kind of inventions he's tinkering with on that table.

Josh Gad has never failed to make me laugh, so I think playing the comic relief role of Le Fou is perfect casting. And Luke Evans is certainly pulling off this Gaston look, wouldn't you say?

We're still months away from the release of the live-action Beauty and the Beast, but today new images hit the internet, and they'll whet the appetites of Disney fans everywhere.

The pictures feature our first look at the Beast's trusty companions Lumiere and Cogsworth, and show Dan Stevens as the Prince in human form. The post was initially shared by the Facebook page La Bella y la Bestia de Disney and later by what appears to be the Beauty and the Beast producer Jack Morrissey. These look pretty legitimate, but take them grain of salt just in case.

In order to help give you guys a full scope of the upcoming film, I've made a series of side-by-side images showing off the 1991 animated designs next to the live-action images we'll see in action next year.

Check out stills from the animated classic next to the updated Beauty and the Beast to see how much things have changed!

Lumiere

  • Original voice actor: Jerry Orbach
  • 2017 actor: Ewan McGregor

We still aren't seeing Lumiere's human-like form, but his candlestick design is already far more intricate than his 1991 animated counterpart.

Cogsworth

  • Original voice actor: David Ogden Stiers
  • 2017 actor: Ian McKellen

Cogsworth's face shows a nice, maybe even snarky personality. From the brief snippet of audio we heard in the teaser trailer, I'm already sold on Sir Ian McKellen's portrayal. (Revisit the teaser trailer below.)

Prince Adam

  • Original voice actor: Robby Benson
  • 2017 actor: Dan Stevens

Dan Stevens is looking pretty tame in this behind-the-scenes photo of Prince Adam. I hope he'll be able to unleash this inner monster when portraying the Beast!

Gaston And Le Fou

  • Original voice actors: Richard White and Jesse Corti
  • 2017 actors: Luke Evans and Josh Gad

While not in costume, these two costars seem to have become even closer than their animated characters while filming. This is the new bromance movie I never knew I wanted.

Belle

  • Original voice actress: Paige O'Hara
  • 2017 actress: Emma Watson

Emma Watson has always been like a real life Disney Princess in my eyes, so it'll be fantastic to see her officially step into the role, not to mention into that gorgeous golden ballgown.

The Beast's Rose

While Disney's animated classics will always hold a safe place in my heart, I must say this is a vast improvement on Beast's rose.

Where is the Le Fou in my life who will sing about how great I am when I start to feel self-conscious?

Beauty And The Beast

We haven't seen the Beast yet, so we don't know how his dance with Belle will look. One side note, though: I was somewhat disappointed to learn that Angela Lansbury wouldn't be reprising the role of Mrs. Potts. Then it was announced that Emma Thompson would be voicing the character and I started to feel better about things.

Little Town Full Of Little People

The only thing the live-action version is missing is a flock of sheep. Other than that it's pretty spot-on. Bring on the sheep, people!

The Castle

In the same vein as Disney's other live-action ventures, like Maleficent and The Jungle Book, this version of Beauty and the Beast looks to be a lot darker than the 1991 version.

The Gang's All Here

A couple of months ago, Josh Gad shared this side-by-side comparison of the new movie's actors and their animated forbears.

Beauty and the Beast also includes Kevin Kline as Maurice, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, and Stanley Tucci playing a new character named Cadenza.

Disney's live-action version of Beauty and the Beast will be released on March 17, 2017.
