The Ouija Board has been described as,

The best selling board game in history,' many people believe that the Ouija Board is an ancient tool used to contact the spirit world. Some even claim that the board dates back to 540 BC. However, while similar devices have been used since ancient times, the Ouija Board was actually patented on February 10, 1891. But, to this day, the actual inventor of the Ouija Board is still a subject of debate.

While Ouija: Origin of Evil may not be a true story, there are hundreds of accounts of very real activities experienced by users across the globe. Created as an innocent party game, it has since become recognized as a gateway to the "other side," and a tool for possible evil. Here are five chilling tales from around the Internet featuring real experiences with Oujia boards.

Death Was Coming.

Reddit user A_Love_Stain had a Ouija experience in a cemetery, and the board gave up some chilling information when people asked how long they had to live:

Everybody asked and they had 50-60+ years left. I go to ask and it says 10. I ask 10 years and it says days. I pretty much shit a brick at this point. It said I was going to be killed in a car accident by a girl named Emma. We would ask it 3 days later and it would say I had 7 days left. Ask it 2 days later it said I would have 5 days left and so on. I’m freaking out at this point, carrying a bible in my pocket and wearing a big cross. I finally tell my dad and he doesn’t believe me so I made one out of a piece of paper and used a CD to show him. It worked and he flipped out and told me that I didn’t have to go to school the day I was supposed to die.

A Spirit Named Max.

Another Reddit user, TheGateCleaner, never closed her session, and ended up with a spirit following her for many years.

His name was Max and he was looking for me. I've never known a Max in my life. My friends yelled out what he was saying as it moved and I was writing off as them teasing me until he started giving them information about me that no one at that party knew… …The next time a Ouija board came out was the next year and only one girl from the original party was among the group. We were baking a cake so when the buzzer went off she and I headed up to take it out of the oven. When we got back to the group another girl turned to me and asked 'Who's Max?

Unexplained Sadness.

Over at Buzzfeed, kylies43baab590 and her friend recall how they were overcome by emotions while they were on their way to a park with their Ouija Board.

In high school, my best friend and I were super into paranormal stuff and had talked about messing with a ouija board for weeks. I finally bought one and we went to a witchcraft store to get the proper protection accouterments (candles, herbs, etc). The night came and at about 11 pm we got into her car to go to a park 10 minutes down the street. We were both excited as fuck. She’s driving, I’m staring out of the passenger side window, hoping something cool was gonna happen with the board, but also doubtful anything would, when the feeling of absolute dread came over me. It felt like someone I love had just died. The sinking feeling, the nausea, the heavy heart, everything. It was so sudden and so consuming that it startled me because I had been so pumped just two seconds before. Tears started streaming out of my eyes. I’m sitting there bawling for no reason and super confused, so I turned to my best friend to say something and she’s crying too. Without even looking at or speaking to each other, we were experiencing the exact same thing. We took that as a hint and turned the car around and as soon as we did, the feeling stopped. It took us two years to finally touch the Ouija board again and that was only to throw it in the trash.

The Black Cat.

This Redditor was in for a surprise when he was seemingly beckoned outside by a big black cat.

I was about 12 or 13 spending the night at a friend’s house, goofing around with the Ouija board with him & his sister and we were getting all sorts of gibberish plus words spelled out, just kind of scaring ourselves for fun not taking it very seriously when we got the message “I can see you through the window” and then “I can see you through his eyes” or something like that… there was just a small window in the basement room where we were, and just the back yard and woods past the driveway visible through that window…we asked it more questions and it said “I’m under the car” so we somehow got up the nerve to go out with a flash light and peer under the car, where we saw a huge black stray cat which was hissing.

User fenchurch1 credits a spirit that communicated through the board with convincing her to keep on going.

This happened just over a year ago. I was in a pretty dark place emotionally and had been for a couple of months. I was thinking a lot about not really wanting to be alive anymore......We asked if there was anyone there, got a yes, and then asked if they wanted to speak to anyone in particular. It spelled my name immediately. What surprised me was how quickly and forcefully the planchette (in our case a glass flipped on its rim) moved. When we asked what it wanted to tell me, it said “DON'T DIE.” I won’t give a play-by-play of the rest of the conversation, but it basically told me I was a good person and things would get better. It really freaked my friends out, and led to some awkward questions about my emotional state, but it was really what I needed to hear right then. It was a really positive experience, and regardless of what caused it, I’m really happy I experienced it.

What do you think? Do you have any Ouija Board experiences to share?
