Stop everything. Something just arrived on the internet and it demands to be seen. It's sexy, it's a landmark for female superheroes, it kicks ass with a lasso and it is very much not directed by Zack Snyder. That something is Wonder Woman.

Forget Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad and the relentless train of negativity that has been the DCEU up until this point. 2017 is a new year, and Wonder Woman looks like exactly the wild, upbeat action-adventure flick DC needs to turn things around ahead of Justice League and do justice to America's favorite female superhero. It's still weird to think that this is Diana Prince's first solo big-screen outing — but on the evidence of this new trailer, it won't be the last. Check it out below:

Although we've known for a while that the bulk of Wonder Woman is set during the first World War, most of the plot specifics have remained a mystery... until now.

After witnessing the destruction that man's war brings to the peaceful haven of Themyscira, it doesn't take long for Diana to leave the Amazonians behind and join Steve Trevor in fighting for humanity. We also get a better look at some of the movie's mysterious threats, like Elena Anaya's woman in the cracked mask, whose M.O. seems to be the use of mysterious, experimental "deadly weapons". The joke at the end also out-Marvels Marvel in fairly epic fashion.

All hyperbole aside, this is a truly superb trailer which really does a stunning job of bringing the visuals of Themyscira to life while offering much more in the way of story than the Comic-Con teaser. Consider my hype levels through the roof.

The main takeaway? This Wonder Woman is the equal of any man (and so much more than just a "secretary"). But please. You knew that already. Wonder Woman hits theaters June 2, 2017.
