The day someone green-lights a Marvel Zombies Ghibli film directed by Xavier Dolan is the day I will be happy. Any day now...

Remember that moment when the Avengers finally assembled in Marvel's first team-up movie? Remember the sheer geekgasm you felt seeing all of your favorite heroes fighting together alongside each other?

Well #DC fans, grab a towel and prepare yourselves for the crossover event of the decade. That's right. Forget Zack Snyder's Justice League. #TheCW's #Arrowverse crossover is almost here, and we can guarantee that watching the new trailer will be your best use of 134 seconds this week. Go on. Do it now.

Once you've finished enjoying the trailer in all it's splendor, it turns out that the promo contains far more information about the 4-way crossover than you might realise. Prepare yourself for some almighty spoilers, as we break down 7 frankly awesome things that will happen in DCTV's most historic event yet.

1. Our Heroes Infiltrate The Dominators' Space Ship

A couple of scenes from the trailer depict our heroes wearing functional but decidedly unflattering jumpsuits on one of the alien space ships. #Arrow's Thea, Diggle and Oliver are joined by DC Legends Sara Lance and Ray Palmer in a shot that tracks out, revealing them stranded in space. Another shot later reveals Sara Lance using a tractor beam on one of the alien ships, which could be how our heroes end up returning to Earth.

2. Firestorm's Transmutational Power Returns

What sets Firestorm apart from other heroes in the comics is his unique ability to transmute objects, changing their basic chemical structure in various ways. This particular power was first seen on DC's Legends of Tomorrow in the Season 1 finale, when Firestorm transmuted a meteor into water. While this is a clearly useful ability, no mention of this ability has been made since. However, in the crossover trailer, a striking shot of Firestorm casting energy over an alien ship implies that this power will play a prominent role again. Could our plucky hero save the day once more?

3. The Plot For Arrow's 100th Episode Is Revealed

For months, fans have wondered how long lost characters such as Deathstroke, Laurel Lance and Robert Queen would return for Arrow's 100th episode, citing flashbacks and Flashpoint as potential reasons. Now, one particular shot from the crossover trailer has revealed exactly how this will occur.

The episode's official synopsis already revealed that Oliver wakes up in an alternate timeline of sorts where he never boarded the Queen's Gambit, but it was still unclear how this would happen. However, shots of Oliver in some kind of stasis chamber suggest that the Dominators have brainwashed him into believing that this virtual reality is the real deal, throwing him out of the equation by giving him everything that he seemingly wants in life.

This is a classic trope in superhero stories, seen most recently in Season 1 of #Supergirl where Kara was led to believe that she never left Krypton and that her parents were still alive. Clearly though, Supergirl eventually saw through the illusion, and it's not hard to imagine that Oliver will do the same.

4. Diggle Is Green Arrow?

The virtual world that Oliver finds himself trapped in for Arrow's 100th episode will see the return of some fan favorite characters — but what about those who never left? In a blink and you'll miss it moment from the trailer, it looks like John Diggle is putting the smackdown on Oliver Queen while wearing his very own Green Arrow costume.

We imagine that in a world without Oliver's vigilante, someone else had to step up to protect Star City — and that someone is the always heroic Diggle, who doesn't look too happy to see Queen break into his Arrow Cave. If we're right about this, then it looks like every missed opportunity that Flashpoint failed to deliver could surface in Arrow's centennial episode, and we couldn't be more excited.

5. Sara Vs Oliver: Dawn Of The Exes

After the stars of DCTV's crossover confirmed that alien mind control would play a role during Invasion, we speculated that Sara Lance and Oliver Queen could come to blows under the aliens' command, drawing upon the former couple's history together, and the new trailer confirms this. Not only does this work on an emotional level, but it also makes sense logistically to pit the two combatants against one another, as they are arguably the most evenly matched of The CW's heroes.

6. A Mysterious New Villain Makes Her Debut?

While the Dominators feature throughout the trailer for Invasion, a potential issue with positioning them as the villains is a lack of personality. Every threat needs a face, one that the viewers can direct their hatred towards, so the homogenous aliens require a leader of sorts that can act as the face of the invasion.

If the trailer's anything to go by, the Dominator's leader could be the 'woman' behind The Flash above. After all, the bracelet she wears matches those worn by the aliens in other shots from the trailer. Overall, this mystery figure doesn't look too reminiscent of any DC villains that we've seen before.

7. Invasion Changes The Future Timeline

Remember back in Season 1 of The Flash when the evil Harrison Wells hid in a secret room, one where Gideon would reveal whether the future timeline had changed? Hints of a future Crisis On Infinite Earths where Barry goes missing have resurfaced in #LegendsofTomorrow, where an older version of The Flash sends the team a message from the future.

Gideon's secret room in Star Labs makes a return in the new trailer, where Oliver and Barry discover that;

Does this mean that our heroes fight against the Dominators causes irreparable damage to the timeline somehow? We wouldn't be surprised if the extreme measures they take to finally defeat the alien menace could hold disastrous consequences later down the line, although it's still not clear what this could mean exactly.
