One of the great series of the early 90s, the X-Files scared and entertained audiences in equal measure with its brand of conspiracy theory inspired paranoia. Sad as we were to see the franchise come to a close in 2002, after two less then spectacular films we were beginning to think that perhaps The X-Files should be left in our memories. However, four years after X-Files: I Want To Believe there are fresh rumblings surrounding a X-Files 3 film. Agent Scully herself, Gillian Anderson, has recently gotten behind the film, saying in recent tweets (as reported by JoBlo):
I met with Chris before coming here and it’s looking pretty good... We have to convince FOX
The Chris in question is of course the show's creator Chris Carter, which is great news. We were more than a little skeptical about the project until a couple of weeks ago when David Duchovny expressed his desire to star in a third film saying:
I would love to do another film, or more. I think we’re all game for it. I know I’m kind of perplexed that Fox isn’t more [enthusiastic].
With both Duchovny and Anderson returning, not to mention the original writer, there's definite potential for a third film. Follow and we'll keep you up to date as the film moves from planning to production, let's just hope that it's better than the last two!
