Haters of can say what they like - someone has got to be watching his movies, because the guy makes a new one every two weeks. Plus, he's easily one of the most consistently bankable commodities in Hollywood. Here's the scoop on Perry's next four upcoming projects; we provide the info, you decide.
Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor (March 29, 2013)
Okay, his insistence on shoving his name into the title of all his movies says a lot about his probable superiority complex, and his enthusiasm to dress up as a fat old woman at every possible moment suggests that he's maybe, possibly, perhaps running thin on ideas, but you can't deny that he knows right from wrong.
Tyler Perry will stop at nothing to concoct an emotional angle to bring his audience into line with his beliefs; that is something that we're likely to see in Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor.
Just ignore the fact that his name's in the title, and also that the title makes the movie sound like an old VHS from the adult section of Blockbuster. All that matters is that Perry has something profound to tell you about the nature of infidelity.
Sit back and take a look at the trailer:
So it explores the nature of desire and the perils of cheating, and also stars , which could be good or bad depending on your point of view. Huh.
Peeples (May 10, 2013)
And now, get ready for another TP production. Peeples, written by Drumline's (who is stepping up to wield the megaphone this time around), finds as a child psychologist who decides it would be fun to surprise his girlfriend () at her annual family reunion. But, what he discovers is that everyone there is in need of therapy.
Although Perry's only on producing duties, this one looks like it could provide some fun family entertainment, kinda like a Meet the Parents sort of experience. That's certainly no bad thing.
Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas (December 13, 2013)
Perry is certainly a well-oiled machine...and I mean that in the nicest way possible. The prolific writer-director-producer has all this lot in the works, PLUS he's working on the next Madea comedy, lest anyone think he might be planning to take a few hours off between projects.
Speaking of post-human, Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas will star Tyler Perry and Tyler Perry, and Tyler Perry.
This may shock you, but I'm only cautiously optimistic about A Madea Christmas. Starting with Madea Goes to Jail, Perry has been watering down this character to the point where there's a danger that she might now resemble all the insults people have been slinging at her this whole time. Will she be all bark and no bite?
You never know. Perry has a way of shocking me whenever I'm down on him most (not a sex joke). Besides, Madea's Witness Protection still has a lot going for it in other respects. Expect a A Madea Christmas trailer soon.
Tyler Perry's The Single Moms Club (May 9, 2014)
This one is set for 2014, so we don't have much on it yet. However, as is usual with most of his output, Perry is set to write, direct, produce, and star in the movie, which will find a group of single mothers bonded together after an incident at their kid's school. Is it odd that I like the sound of this? I just hope that Perry doesn't decide to cross-dress.
I love a good Perry movie, but I also understand the criticisms of them and wonder if he would just take a little more time putting his movies out, would that be time well spent making the movies more multi-dimensional, interesting, and engaging. What say you?
