Jim Carrey For 'Kick-Ass 2' Role?

The man with the rubber face, aka Jim Carrey, is being sought after for a role in the upcoming superhero-with-a-difference movie, Kick-Ass 2. According to Deadline, the funny-man—famed for his roles in Dumb and Dumber and Ace Ventura, plus more serious fare Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind—is a big fan of Kick-Ass writer Matthew Vaughn, and could be open to making a cameo appearance in the follow up.

The character he is rumored to be up for is called Colonel Stars. In the comics he first worked for crime-boss Genovese before changing sides and deciding to fight crime. Colonel Stars worked together with Lieutenant Stripes and formed Justice Forever, a sort of superhero recruitment center who went on missions to kick bad guys' asses.

It could be a really interesting character for Carrey to play because the Colonel is quite a complex figure. Although he appears tough on the outside, he is actually a born-again Christian and the guns he carries are empty and are there purely for intimidation purposes.

At the moment though, the casting of Carrey is only in the idea phase, but if it did come off he would join an already impressive cast including John Leguizamo and Donald Faison.

Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall opens summer, 2013.
