'Game of Thrones' Fans Spectacularly Rebuild King's Landing In Minecraft

Anyone who's played Minecraft will know its not a game for people with short attention spans. Just building a tiny shack took me about 3 hours of backbreaking labor - albeit virtual labor. Well, I can truly say my tiny shelter has been well and truly trumped by the guys over at Westeroscraft. They managed to rebuild the city King's Landing from Game of Thrones in its entirety. Seriously, it is absolutely insane.

For those of you who do not know, Minecraft is an indie game which allows players to practically build their own entire world from various building blocks. However, it's not as simple as that. Resources must be mined, your buildings must be defended from marauding zombie things, and building a simple outhouse can take ages. To build an entire city, complete with streets, landmarks, docks, and surrounding land, is a crazy achievement that must have taken a huge team contributing hundreds, if not thousands, of man hours. The Westeroscraft team are not content to leave it at King's Landing. They've also built Winterfell, Castle Black, Dragonstone, and The Wall. In fact, they intend to recreate the whole of Westeros, before crossing the Narrow Sea and starting on Essos! If you want to check out more of their work, or help by getting involved, head over to Westeroscraft.com.

In the meantime, we can see the real King's Landing return when Game of Thrones Season 3 premieres on March 31st.
