Is Marvel developing an 'Agent Carter' television series?
Sometimes, when I think of the plans over at Marvel Studios HQ, I envision a giant, metaphorical orrery, all constantly moving pieces and spinning gears, another ball in the air, an intricately orchestrated dance where the partners somehow never manage to step on one another's toes.
Today broke the news that Marvel has a top-secret new movie in the works, and now, Deadline is reporting that there's yet another project in development over at the studio. The 'Agent Carter' one-shot that's being bundled with the Iron Man 3 DVD & Blu-ray is being turned into a potential Agent Carter Series.
There's no word yet on whether or not Hayley Atwell would reprise her role as Peggy Carter if the series went to pilot, but as she has a good working relationship with Marvel and seems keen to want to continue to work with them, it wouldn't be a surprise if she did. This would make a great companion series to this fall's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as well, and be right in ABC's wheelhouse of shows that feature strong, ass-kicking women in the lead role.
At the moment, it's still in the early stages. It's one of several mystery projects in development over at Marvel, and they're currently shaping the concept and shopping around for a writer. So better make that very early stages. But Marvel has always moved projects fairly quickly through the development process, provided they feel it's a good idea that interests them, so expect to hear more news about whether this is a go or not sooner rather than later.
