It's finally here! The precious! That most holy of holies! The Hobbit trailer is here! And it's like we've never been away. There's dwarves throwing plates and making a ruckus, theres old Bilbo giving advice to you Frodo, there's Kate Blanchett's Galadriel gently flirting with Ian McKellen's Gandalf… wait, what?

Baffling new romances aside this trailer is THE SHIZ, feel that charming Shire music washing over you and Peter Jackson pulling you close into his bosom as you bask in the warm, amber glow of Middle-Earth. Get ready to have your life taken over once again.

Stepping into nerd-mode, let's do a bit of analysis… seems like Tolkien's tunes are making a come-back with the tough looking Thorin belting out a haunting melody all the way from the Misty Mountains. There's new material afoot, Galadriel makes no appearence in The Hobbit so it seems like even in An Unexpected Journey we'll be venturing off the beaten path.

However the magical Stephen Fry has confirmed via his twitter feed that he won't be popping up untill the second movie. It also looks like Gollum's cave won't be as pitch black as Tolkien suggested, with key shots like this one showing us that at least we (if not Bilbo) will be able to see all the ring stealing action. Also get ready to see a younger Gandalf kicking all sorts of Orc ass!

For those who have not read the book, none of the above information will mean much to you, so do yourself a favor and get reading! You only have a year to get your Hobbit knowledge up to scratch!

Let's all sit around the campfire, smoke some pipe-weed, talk of memories past and watch the trailer another 6 times.
