With all the big news coming out of Cannes little scraps of awesomeness keep on slipping passed the media. Awesomeness like this announcement on Thunder Run
from CEO of Freedom Films Brian Presley, recently reported by ComingSoon,Freedom Films CEO, Brian Presley is proud to announce the closing of a substantial domestic P&A financing arrangement days prior to Cannes for the CG 3-D action thriller Thunder Run. The film will be co-financed by Presleys Freedom Films and CEO Fred Malmburgs company, Paradox Entertainment with Gerard Butler, Sam Worthington and Matthew McConaughey starring.
That’s already a dream action film cast with old pros Butler and Worthington perfect for this sort of thing, even McConaughey, who we’ve seen in a different light ever since clips from his new film Mud
came out, could be an excellent choice.Based on a book by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Zucchino, Thunder Run - The Armored Strike to Capture Baghdad, the film will be the first to properly portray the 2003 assault on Baghdad, launched by a relatively small force of tanks and APCs.
We’ve had excellent war films set in several time periods, from the Civil War through to Vietnam and it’s about time we had another real, well-informed film about the Iraq War. The action of the conflict coupled with Zucchino’s interactions with real service personnel should mean that this will be one of the most accurate and interesting portraits of modern warfare to date.
