Not to be outdone by Harry and Hermione, Rupert Grint, aka Ron Weasley, is lining up his own list of projects post-Harry Potter. He’s starring opposite Aaron Eckhart, Vera Farmiga and Chlo Moretz in The Drummer

, an indie biopic about Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson. He’s also got a horror flick called Cross Country planned for next year, and now he’s signed up for two more films.

He’ll be joining Shia LaBeouf and Evan Rachel Wood in The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman

, an action/comedy/romance about a guy who falls for a mobster’s girlfriend and has to suffer the grim consequences if the title isn’t too tongue-in-cheek, the plotline is. LaBeouf plays Charlie, Wood plays the foxy Gabi, but Variety doesn’t mention what Grint will be up to. The film also stars Melissa Leo, Mads Mikkelsen, and Til Schweiger.

Grint will also reunite with fellow Harry Potter alum Alan Rickman in CBGB, a portrait of the famous New York City music club owned by Hilly Kristal that was the New York birthplace of underground rock ‘n roll and punk. The club featured acts like the Talking Heads, the Ramones and Blondie. Variety reports that Grint will play Cheetah Chrome of the Dead Boys, who played a prominent role during the club’s rise.

Granted, they’re both supporting roles in not-so-huge movies, but the projects sound interesting enough (especially CBGB) and we’re eager to see how Grint settles into his burgeoning film career.
