Moses and Ridley Scott have at least one thing in common: Both didnt show any signs of slowing down in their advanced years.

Not only has 74 year-old probably more projects in the pipeline than he can realize in his lifetime, every time one of them approaches its release date, you hear about one or two additional ones. Your typical Scott film rarely is an intimate chamber piece. No, sir! Scott is a creator of epics (one could argue about their quality lately).

And now, the filmmaker told Esquire, he will tackle one of the biggest and oldest kinds of genres: the Bible epic.

Ive got something else in the works. Im already doing it. Its called Moses. Seriously, seriously. Its going to happen. I probably shouldnt have let that slip out. Im not supposed to say anything. Its definitely in the cards, though. Whats interesting to me about Moses isnt the big stuff that everybody knows. Its things like his relationship with Ramses [II, the pharaoh]. I honestly wasnt paying attention in school when I was told the story of Moses. Some of the details of his life are extraordinary.

Ridley Scott probably is talking about the Moses biopic set up at Fox. /Film describes the project as ‘in the style of Zack Snyders 300‘, which should be interesting…

The problem is, that another one of Hollywood last directing behemoths also plans to make a big, costly Moses feature. Steven Spielberg was said to direct Gods and Kings for Warner Bros after having finished editing Lincoln

and directing Robopocalypse. According to We Got This Covered, Spiebergs film, would be #Braveheart-ish version of the Moses story’, presumably meaning lots of battles, inspired accents and blood (and male audience members drowning in their tears!).

Which 'Moses' film should be made?

Might Bible epics be the next big trend in Hollywood? Mel Gibsons massively succesful The Passion of Christ showed that Christians can be an enthusiastic flock, when the right film tends to their needs. Its hardly likely they need two Moses movies!

For those in need of more cinematic retellings of the good book there is also the sure to be spectacular Noah

, from Darren Aronofsky to consider.
