Both being fiery Spanish sex symbols, it seems a little odd that Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas have never (as far as we can tell) appeared together before, so we’re thrilled that at last they’re set to share a scene in The Skin I Live In director Pedro Almodvar’s latest ensemble comedy, The Brief Lovers
.Javier Cmara, who previously appeared in Almodvar’s Talk to Her, will lead the cast according to Screen Daily which will feature a wealth of talent including Guillermo Toledo , Ral Arvalo, Hugo Silva, Cecilia Roth, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Blanca Surez, Jos Mara Yazik and Antonio de la Torre. The film is predominantly set on board a crashing plane: a strange location, but hear me out. The huge cast, fearful for their lives begin confessing their deepest secret to one another. It’s an odd premise for a film, but it definitely has the potential to be funny and those who’ve read the script say that its the funniest he’s written in years.
The pace of filming on the project, due to be released in Spring 2013, is incredibly intense: Cruz and Banderas will film their scene in just one day, but perhaps this fervor of activity will bring the cast’s most frenetic performances to the film and add something special to Almodvar’s ‘frenzy comedy’.
