From the moment I walked out of the cinema after watching J.J. Abrams movie back in 2009, I’ve been excited about the sequel. Unfortunately, we still have an annoying amount of time to wait until the highly-anticipated Star Trek Into Darkness

hits theaters next May, 2013.

My anticipation really skyrocketed when Benedict Cumberbatch was first spotted on set and rumored to play a villain. It’s since been confirmed that the British actor is in fact the main villain in the film, and that he’s incredible.

In fact, screenwriter Alex Kurtzman can’t stop talking about how thrilled he is with the casting of Cumberbatch and what a genius he is. Here’s the latest from his interview with CinemaBlend:

He’s a genius… There are certain actors who have the ability to take a line of dialogue and add a ring to it that you didn’t even know you put into the dialogue, into the line. And he’s one of those really brilliant actors. Just listening to him talk… You could enjoy him reading the phone book.

Agreed. Just look at Cumberbatch’s run of amazing movies, which include , , War Horse

and the upcoming, sure-to-be-brilliant movies and Twelve Years A Slave.

Although we don’t know which character he’ll be playing from the vast Star Trek universe, we know that he’s going to kill it! The question now is: Could he be playing one of these guys?
