Since the project was first announced, the remake of the 1995 sci-fi hit Judge Dredd Dredd
has been shrouded in mystery. Until now, we’ve not been provided with much more than a movie poster and a pretty vague plot summary, based on the original movie.But look! What did you think of Karl Urban (, , and Star Trek Into Darkness
) as old stony-face himself? Good use of monotone? I really enjoyed the gravelly voice, but the cinematography has got me a little worried. A bit too much like a music video, perhaps? That said, there is one shot in the trailer and oh wow it’s like the comic Judge Dredd has come to life. Check the 0.03 mark!Were you a massive fan of the original movie? It’s been 17 years since the Sly Stallone version of Judge Dredd thudded down on the hopes of 2000AD fanatics… Almost long enough for some pretty horrific memories to have faded into insignificance, in my opinion. Comedy sidekick Rob Schneider? What was that all about? Dredd is not, and should never be, a family-friendly movie figure. Right?
Anyway, as this remake is set to be R-rated, I hope this film will be as immense and high-octane as it in my opinion was intended to be. Nevertheless, I have a feeling that there’s no way in OsCorp that it’ll be up there with the other comic book flicks of the year.
