It’s always a shame when great actors don’t stay on for sequels, but Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World
hasn’t had any such problems. Chris Hemsworth is back (obviously), and so too are Natalie Portman, Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgrd and Anthony Hopkins. Could we even be seeing the return of Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist actress Kat Dennings as the sarcastic Darcy Lewis?Speaking with ComicBookMovie.com, Dennings sort of confirmed that she will be returning for a second Thor film:
I do know the answer to that… [However] I do not have the clearance to talk…interpret that as you will. I’ve asked when I can say things, but apparently I can’t yet, so that will come soon.
To us, that’s a pretty clear confirmation: if she wasn’t going to return, wouldn’t she just say no? We’re really looking forward to seeing nearly the entire cast back, because it’s the on-screen chemistry between the group that really made the first film special.
The only actor who has left the production is Josh Dallas (Fandral), who will be replaced by Chuck star Zachary Levi. Also leaving the franchise is director Kenneth Branagh, but don’t worry: Thor 2 is in safe hands with Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor.
